Great start with a great stuff (I have added comments in your thread as well). Thanks as well for making one thread for all uploaders (which makes it more interesting and rangeen).

Friends,
Let me strat from my side.
You all will have to bear with me as I am upoading a file (and not esnips widget, but which I plan to do in furture).
This great song left a deep impact on me (tears in eyes whilst watching the movie as a kid). Even today it haunts me. By no means I would want you to go to sleep as the song says.
Anyway, this is how I recorded
1) used a poor microphone (lot of noise)
2) took the karaoke tract, reduced the tempo (so enough time to breath), reduced the pitch (to fit my vocal band)
3) played the track and recorded in my natural voice
4) added some echo to the voice track as necessary
Hope you like it. Thanks in advance for your tips, critics (don't hesitate) which are naturally appreciated.

Since eSnips and YouTube links are allowed on HF, lets use them to make this place more flexible which would help also those who can not download due to ratio issues but still want to hear ur voice and comment on it!!!

No one can fault your voice and vocal qualities just co's there's no tailor made track for you

Hello Sanjaybhau,

I think this song is in little high tempo. And I know you have reduced the pitch but just wanted to know there is any slow version of this song and which was sung in this tempo?

Sanjay, I dont have slightest doubt on how beautiful u have sung this song. The karaoke track is not at all your fault. I rather feel that your lovely voice has overridden that fault. Just one suggessions is that make use of putting effective gaps and breath in between two words. It helps enhance the expressions more effectively!

Now Sanjay, I have song request for you!

Jawaniyan Yeh Mast Mast sung the gr8 Rafisahab!! Would love to hear ur voice singing this lovely gem! To phir ho jaaye?

Many thanks for your comments suggestions. I think the karaoke track is good but my microphone is shi..... As soon as I switch it on it just gives me big background noise.
For my upload, I also got some suggestions from a close friend that I need to free up my voice. I know my breathng is horrible, I cannot modulate well and in an (people) environment I cannot free up my voice (for whatever reason, I believe very shy).
As a remedy, while driving to work alone, I parked somewhere and sang the following song (recorded on a digital mp3 player), uloaded on PC and added some echo. The sound quality is ok, but more importatntly I think at least the voice feels more free.
I would like to appologize in advance for my poor pronounciations.
I don't think there is a karaoke track available for this song (if someone has it I would be grateful)
Hope you like it.
And OMkar bhau, one day I will definately give a try to your request (it fts to my taste as well).
Finally, feel free to add your comments, tips, critics.
Sorry for the file again, I tried with Esnips widget, but it is not working very well (broken sound etc).

Hey Sanjay, come one DONT, DONT and DONT ever feel sorry for anything. I totally understand the concern of your close friends. They might be right as they also SEE you while u sing. And as I can not see you while pronouncing words, I can not 100% comment on it. BUT, when I hear ur voice and ur pronounciations, I feel there could be only 5% prob which also I am assuming because I dont SEE you while singing.

Secondly, REALLY REALLY CHANGE YOUR MICROPHONE.

And if u feel ur voice is not open, I have gr888 idea to open it up... I works very well... Do u have a Harmonuim or Synthesizer? Just let me know!!

I really feel embarassed to have uploaded a bad file. I don't know how but the song worked fine on my pc. Anyway, I appologize to all for any incovenience. I have, thus, removed the file from my original post to avoid anybody wasting the time and precious MBs.
I will wait for a new microphone before any uploads from my side (hope to do that this week end).

Sahi Pakda Hai Dost!!! Very very nice observation really! And I totally agree with you about the fault u mentioned!

Please allow me to explain,

1. My microphone is a very ordinary type. Its Logitech Mic which came as complementry with my web-cam. I will take the snap of how I record the songs.
2. For such ordinary mic, one has to sing each and every word clear with consistant breathing pressure. And when I sung this song, there were so many times when my breahting varied from one like to another. Such mistakes can be easily rectified in the professional studios which uses professional microphones, mixers, monotors, etc.
3. Lack of practice
4. Consistance Distance between the mic and singer MUST be maintain for the complete song for such poor quality mic.
5. Even my filter is also very very funny!!! Its one of the kitchen accessries Anyone want to see my Home Studio????

I hope in my next recordings I will try my best to look into such matters more meticulously and consistantly!!

U need Echo?? I use Audacity software to record my songs and to add Echo in the songs is very easy in Audacity. Audacity is a freeware software which you can get anywhere. Just go to Google.com, Type 'Audacity' and click on search. You will find the link, then u download the software, install it and start using it.. Its dead simple!!! Let me know if u find any difficulty in doing that

DId u installed? Once u install, then you have to record something in ur voice. Then select your voice recording and then

click on 'Effect'
click on 'Echo'
Enter 'Delay time' : 0.2
Enter Decay factor': 0.3
Click 'OK'

After doing this, click 'Play', then u will hear ur voice with the Echo Effect..

That will be great! (putting on esnips) But I'll take some time with this as this is my least favorite song of Kashmir ki Kali. There are 3 great duets, and one great fast number and one great sad number and another great solo (subhanalla, haseen chehra). So 'Kisi na Kisise' and 'Balama Khuli Hava' takes a backseat in my choices.

But not anymore. I'll look at 'Kisi na Kisi se' with a fresh perspective and bring it up to the level of other songs

First of all Congratulations to KR sahab for 2 (different legends) songs. Great voice, great & clear singing, very well done. Keep it up. Abhi to only shuruaat hui hai Mehfil ki...kya kahete ho..?
Now, Thanks to HT bhai, Azad bhai, OMkar Bhau and AnwarFan Bhai for appreciations and providing helpful comments and tips. I agree with Azad bhai (well caught), I was nervous and I was (some) off-notes & my breathing was very poor during "Main Gaaoon Tum..." etc.
OMkar bhau provided good tips on changing the microphone. Today afternoon, I made it to buy a new microphone, saw an opportunity (no one at home) & recorded following two songs. Here they are!
I must say the new microphone works wonderfully.
I tried to put the songs in eSnips and found quality degradation, so I am tempted to provide here files again (& no esnips widgets, as one day I need to find out the cause for that).
Anyway, ....Microphone testing.....first song with background karake track, second song without background (free singing). Both songs are purposely one stanza only (cannot afford to bore you).
Enjoy and provide comments, tips & suggestions.

Thanks to your kind words. A lot of the credit should also go to you for teaching us how to get the best out of Audacity!

Your new mic seems to have made perceptible difference. Can you pls tell us what was your old mic and which is your new one?

I heard your 'Pukarata Chala..' And you have packed a lot of emotions! You sounded very smooth at lots of places, and it is only a matter of practice to sing the whole song smoothly. I thought the phrase 'zulf ki' sounded different to the original, and you might like to check that out.

And since this is song full of subtle nuances, I think you have done a wonderful job on the whole!

A suggestion. Why don't you open an esnips account and upload your songs there? Benefits:
1. Those who wd like to d/l and listen to your songs need not worry abt ratio.
2. Those who come after one month, can still listen to your song.

Taqdeer Ka Fasana............Saanson Mein Aaaj...........beautiful vocal control and appropriate application of Bass at the right places, Bohot khub.

Bohot masroof hoon, very busy at present a lot is happening work wise - need to get my head down for a bit of studying..........just got no time to sing properly at the moment.

I do however keep an eye for all you guys...............all I have to say is where are RafiKiAwaaz,Azgar, ShahNawaaz, Scorpio and lots and lots of others...........if any of you guys ahev any influence on these stars, please kuch to karo

Mitra, first of all I must say that you have clear voice. Just, ignore those friends who are saying ur voice is NOT open. But always have a habit of singing in clear voice as you have sung 'Taqdeer ka fasana' and 'Pukarta chala hoon main'!!!

Sanjay, I also record the songs when no one is in the house (which is very difficult many times) but I do it because I want pin drop silence... Hope you also have the same reason!!! One suggession: Be proud of having good (Makhmali) voice and sing in front of people without any fear. And at the same time, keep of criticizing urself and work on improvisation of your songs and expressions!!

Well done and more have to follow after this Mic Testing sample songs!!!

OMkar, you have the knack to sound original at many places in the song! Wah bhai wah!

You can distill the essence of the song and incorporate it in your song. A sharp voice like your idol

You can sing the upper notes very well too.

Your 'buss' has come very beautifully at a couple of places.

You have a great potential, pls do riyaaz regularly and do respect 'bhagwan ki daen'

Thanks to All (KR bhai, KK bhai, AF bhai, OMkar bhau and others) for appreciations, tips, comments, suggestions.
I used Logitec Microphone USB version, had problem recording as it was not acknowledged by Audacity, had to record in other program, to bring back to Audacity etc etc before presenting to you friends (does anyone know why Audacity does not acknowledge a usb versioned mic?). I must say new Microphone is very good and I recommend it if you are looking for an update (it is also very easy to use).

Now, to our true "Guru Chela" OMkar bhau.
Kya gaaye ho yaar! Agar Kishoreda hote to aapko bahot achche aashirwaad hi dete. Bas Guruki tasveer samane rakh kar gaate raho, abhi to bahot kuchch gaane gaana hai aapko. Very sharp, clear voice, well modulated, with correct emotions and very well sung (lagta hai ghar pe koi nahee tha, GURU ki tawveer ke siwa). Bahot hi magn ho ke gaaye ho. Keep it up.

Someone tell me, how to get better quality songs in esnips widgets format (whenever I upload there is quality degradation)? Is there specific setting I need to pay attention to while uplaoding in esnips? Does anyone know how to?

Ab other Bahiyon ko chaal chalni hai. Kyon bhaiyon aap duets ki soch rahe ho kya? Arey bhaiyon, pahele solo to upload karo without delay (but take your time).

Bahut Bahut Shukriya Harish!!! Being honest to you, I have been observing Kishoreda, Amitda and other good songs since last 25 years now. And I have always been curious to know how these legendary singer can express the feelings so perfectly... So I have always been observing each and every detail of the song.

I always TRY my best to sound like only OMkar keeping in mind that I have to try my best to express the feelings required in the song as exact as the original singer. Its not really easy to come out of the shadow of Kishoreda; but I really TRY my best... Once I love the song, I try to understand Kishore Kumar, the singer as a person and what his way of expressing feelings and how I can express those same feelings by keeping my own voice intact but without copying his VOICE... I failed many times, but I sincerely feel I am gradually able to sing in my own voice and still expressing the feelings fairly nice...

Its a long way to go yaar!!! Par Koi Baat Nahin, Poori Zindagi Padi, Yahan Jaldi Kisko Hai??

Dost, even I had the doubt in my mind that Audacity might not detect the USB Microphone. I think you need to find the kind of adapter from USB to Micrphone Jack... Let me see if something like that is available in the market... Even I was going to buy such USB mic. Pudhchyas Tthech, Maagla Shahana Thanks yaar.. But really, even I need a fairly good mic. Lets find out the solution for this ur problem.



Bina Magan Hue, Yaar Main Gaa Hi Nahi Sakta. I dont even know when my eyes gets closed while singing. Lot of friends complain about that. Even whenever I have been on stage, I just get lost!!! But I remember the day when I sung few notes with Amit Kumar on the stage and he had appreciated my voice a lot to the audience, saying "This boy has the real talent"!! I can never forget that moment in my life!!! Thanks Amitda!!

ohh, i forgot to answer sanjay's questions.

I don't think there is degradation in the quality on esnips. It's basically what you upload gets played.

I also don't see why Audacity shd not recognise the USB mic. I guess the problem is that Audacity is still pointing to the old mic source, and it has not yet been told of the existence of the new mic.

Sanjay, check the following
1. Under Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager, ensure that the mic is properly installed
2. Under Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio >Sound Recording, ensure you have selected the USB mic as the default sound recorder
3. Under Audacity "Preferences", check the first tab Audio I/O. Check that the correct device is selected for recording.

Yes I didn't realise sanjay saying he records using some other software. Which means he needs to check only step 3 as the first 2 shd be correct.

@omkar, I guess, when he records, he gives the source as 'mic' instead of 'mixer'. So even when he plays the karaoke music on the background (using any software), only what goes through the mic gets recorded. He then simply 'drags and drops' the 2 files in audacity. Of course, he needs to 'time-shift' the second wave which he can do for the first line only, and the rest will automatically fall into place.

btw, i hope u guys use headphones while recording, else a part of the music u listen will also get fed into the mic, and clarity will be lost.

I tried to do this by adding time-shift to the second wave, but it need to be perfect and its sometimes difficult to calculate the exact timeshift. Is there any other way, Sanjay? Please let us know.

Oh yes, Harish, I use headphones while recording otherwise it will be really bad bad bad recording. I am only worried for my current mic quality. Hope to resolve it in coming few months. Lets see how it goes!!!

I will be performin live for the first time in my life in a party this weekend there will be more than 100 people .......i am asked to take 20 minute to sing both Hindi and Farsi songs with key board guy ..........i have the idea of karaoke, but no idea of live music ........tried to refuse, but friends ask me then why on earth i am goin for professional music, and this is chance to start appearin....................i think i am not ready now .........any tip to handle the anxiety?

Thank u so much for inspirational words, i think it does make difference in my mood...............The only reason that i feel nervous is because i don't think i mean to appear this soon..........it's only 5-6 months i am learning singing..........and i was expecting this happen within a year or two......isn't it too soon?...........about the keyboard guy, he himself will continue the show in terms of singing..........caoz i won't be singing mast songs for dance part of the show.......it'll be kind of break time from dancing part.........and i am to sing some slow and romantic songs............i dun know what am i gonna do?.......and he's not my Ustad to ask him set the music on key 5...i dun know if he's professional enough! .....so much anxiety for me

Idol, nervousness is a good thing. so don't feel bad if u r nervous. Even the greatest of singers are nervous before a show!

Remember what will help you on stage is confidence. And confidence comes only from practice. So, basically there is only one mantra - practice, practice, practice! And practice doesn't mean singing only. It is singing AND listening. Do a lot of listening to the music you are going to sing.

Record the songs u r planing to sing and put it up here. we can give u song-specific feedback.

they asked me for 20 min performance............and that would be romantic songs both in Hindi and Farsi..........now,... i can practice from today and make the list..........what i fear is what if they request a specific song?...........mostly gals request to sing new songs, and i don't know how to sing ...................as soon as i make up the list -- maybe three songs, i guess?--- one hindi two farsi ....i will post my selected song here.........and plz do give comments so that i do not make myself embarassed infront of people.......it's too soon to perform now, i am only 5 mnth old student

In fact, I had already checked with the first two tips, but then I was expecting to see it (usb mic) as a choice in the recording option of Audacty (which did not appear, that is why I did not try further in Audacity). Friends,
Except few things, much of Harish said is correct (drag and drop is not a good idea).
So this is how I ususlly recorded
1) In Audacity, upload the music Karaoke track (listen to it see if it fits to vocal band then if necessary play with "Effects-Pitch" to get to whatever you want. May not be necessary for different singers)
2) Select "Microphone" as source for recordning
3) Start recording button and singing (this will play the karaoke track but will not be recorded, but whatever you sing into the microphone will get recorded into a new track)
4) Once the Karaoke track is finished you stop the recording
5) Now choose, the "Stereo Mix" as the playing source and push "Play" (this will play both the tracks, the karaoke track as well as the voice recorded track), listen and see if this is OK. The Timing in this case is always right as you listened the track and sang accordingly.
6) "Stop"
7) Now "Start recording" (push record button) using still the "Stereo Mix" as the source for playing (at this time the two previous tracks will played and you can listen the two tracks playing, while) a new track will be created using the input of these two tracks.
This is your final recorded track (karaoke plus voice).
8) "Stop" and "Save" the file and present to HF community and get the pleasure.
Hope this helps. You may have your own way of recording (if different and easier please share)

OMkar Bhau,
My old one was a combo (headphone+mic) costing 5 Euro. This one picked up lot of noise from everywhere and even from the earrphones as well as all the internal noise of PC. But is worked as singing was never on the table.
The new one is a "Logitech" (USB Desktop Microphone, Model number: A-0186A), costing less than 30 Euro. Connect to the USB port and it starts working (as simple as that). The recording quality is excellent, does not pick up any internal PC noise. So very simple, recording and reproducing in clear good quality voice/sound. You can "try before buy" in the PC shop (if possible for you) as it is so simple like any other PC microhones.

Idol sis,
Who says you are not good (just downloaded and heard your song). I must say you have a very good sounding voice. You also sang it very very nicely. I predict, you get to new hights as you practice further and upload more of your songs in HM (Hamari Mehfil). This is your platform to practice in front of remote audience. As I said you are much advanced as I even do not know what shudh and komal etc etc mean.
In fact, in the song your voice is clear, but the volume is low. A tip on volume:-once you record your song (I assume in Audacity), then select/highlight the portion you want to increase the voluce of (in this case the whole song) and choose "Effects", "Amplify" (side the knob to the right to increase the amplification), "OK" then go back to listen to the song. If the volume is now OK then you can save the file.
A tip on scratchi vice: eat and drink whatever your mind, body, tongue and stomach tell you to. I prefer very spicy (but definately without cold drinks).
So when is your next song? Waiting for raag Yaman (is it going to be a known filmy song?)....

Kyaa gazab ka gaana sunaya aapne. Kafi mushkil gana aapne Bahot khoob gaya hai mere dost. Aapka SIR zukana bahot hi achchaa laga. Tells you a lot about a person.
Most of the modulations you got very good and correct, still I felt the "GHUM" needs to be perfected (which is extremely difficult but highly effective in the original song). But, may be you wanted to present it this way. If that is the case then you have sung this song wonderfully.
Last comment: Keep up with practice to bring even more life to high pitch notes.

@IDOL, there is nothing to fear if you do not know what they request. Not everybody is expected to know everything!

Remember that THEY have given you 20 mins on stage on the basis of what they think you CAN do, and not on the basis of what you CANNOT do. Just focus on doing a good job of what you CAN, instead of worrying abt what you cannot!

'Embarassment' happens only in OUR mind. If you do an outright blunder on the stage, excuse yourself saying this is your first time, you are young, etc.

Once you are on the stage, the powerful lights will be on you. You will not be able to see the audience. So you will not be nervous!

BTW, I did not understand your step No.7. What is the need of it? Our voice track is already recorded in step No. 3. You can simply export as an mp3 file and that is it.

you have a very beautiful voice. Your 'swars' seem to be in place most of the time. You have packed in a decent amount of emotions as well. One area of improvement i see is that you need to inject a lot of 'ada' here and there for the aesthetic appeal. I once again reiterate listen to the original more often and more carefully. there is a lot to gain from that.

@anwar_fan, aap to seasoned player ho yaar. aapko kya bataun? One thing I have noticed, most of the singers here on HSM forum do a good job of bringing emotions, and you have also done a good job. Ek do jagah pe aap to sangeet mein beh gaye ho! wah!

At step 3 you recorded only the voice track (no background karaoke music track, which was just playing, which you could listen through your headphone and use it as an aid while recording voice).
At step 5 you are just listening the two tracks together (the karaoke track and the one you recorded in your voice) to check if everything s OK.
At step 7 now you are ready to record the two tracks togeter into a new one. At this step the two tracks are played together while a new is automatically generated which is recording the two track together into one. This is the one you can then export as an mp3 file.
Hope this is clearer now. Let me know.

Sanjay mate you're right more dard hona chahiye........but yaar I was in happy mood when I recorded it ab aise mood mey Dard Aur Gham ka Samandar Kahan Se Launga.....the most thing that I enjoy doing every time I sing is Dhang (Not the thing that comes out of Cows ), Adaigee I think may be the correct and respectable term.

My Mic I think was having a very bad day, the voice recording sounds awful with lots of distortions. I've never had any problems like this before, the music sounds fine but vocals recording does not , I may even re record it. I've also been advised to use some reverbs over at esnips co's I have'nt used any so it sounds just a bit bland, me think's

Mahendra's Chalo Ik Baar..........will certainly have a go when I find the track

and as for Talats; I've always LOVED Yeh Hawa Yeh Raat Yeh Chandni, a tall order when I find respective tracks.

By the way guys I use mixcraft, far more upper market software

Baat aapke dard ki naheen hai. Aapne to bahot khoobi se gaane mein pura dard bhar diya hai. Baat uski naheen hai, baat to ek word ki hai "GHUM" jo iss line mein aata hai "dastaan-e-GHUM sunakar ...". Main us "GHUM" ki baat kar raha tha, jo ke bahot hi mushkil hai (magar Rafi sahab ne itni asani se gaaya hai) aur original gaane mein bahot hi effective lagta hai.

Anwarbhai, only 2 suggessions for you:
1. When you sing a line, always make sure that the complete line is sung with exact expression from beginning to end. I realised there were just few places in this song where your voice suddenly became weak; may be due to lack of breath or practice... So just avoid such things and then see your song will glow more and more... Gaana Aisa Khilkar Aayega Ki Aap Khud Hi Apni Nazar Utaroge!!! Haay Qurbaan Jaawaa!!!

2. Be strict with high notes and take enough of breath to sing the higher notes.

Correct use of breath is extremely important in singing and expressions (even in life).

p.s. Why dont u re-mix the song with little Echo in it???? But I think in Mixcraft, there is no echo facility, but they have 'reverb' facility (which I never like )

Sanjay, I am still confused about mixing the song, but anyways I found out more nicer way!!!

1. Add the karaoke track
2. Select 'Project' menu, click 'Import Audio'
3. Select the recorded voice
4. then by setting the required 'Silence' in the beginning shift the 'imported track to the exact position from where u want the voice to be started..

Sanjay and Harish, I always have one majoy problem of different sound levels in my recording. I always try my best to sit and sing from correct distance of the mic... But still sometimes due to my lack of control over breathing; sometimes I sing some lines more louder than previous line!! Now to get rid of such lines, I Select only that portion of line and then select 'Effect' Menu and click 'Normalize' in which I untick the first option of DC offset and click OK... Now this thing helps me reduce the loudness of that particular line and brings it to normal sound level.....

BUT, is there any way I can select complete track (my voice track) and set the sound level to ONE level so that my voice level will sound similar throughout the song???? PLEASE HELP!!!!


p.s. Ystd I was in London just for one day and just in one day, the Mehfil extended to 2 pages... Good going guys!!!! IDOLbehenji, please stop fearing now and sing in ur lovely voice... Chalo gaao abhi!!!!

OMkarbhai, you are very good at motivating!

one tip on breathing:
Plan your breath intakes. You should know exactly at what points you have to breath 'in'. Listen to the original, and have the lyrics page handy with you. Notice where the singer is breathing in, mark it with a 'dot' in the lyrics page. Breathing, by default doesn't happen at the end of each line!

Correctttttt!!!! But only 2 things I would like to add and that is
1. To hear the original song very minutely and study how the singer used the breath to sing each and every line!!!
2. Sometimes, its also very essential to make the breath visible in the song. This DEFINITELY helps to enhance the expressions in the song. What I mean is that sometime to take the breath immediately before you start singing the line, it makes the breath visible. Look at my Jhumroo song, I kept the breath visible in many places which made it sound the song natural and not artificial... u got me??? I have not understood you OMkarbhai.
Opening an audio file, or importing is same as 'drag and drop'. And why shd you import the 'recorded voice'? It is there within Audacity.

The method I use is
1. Open Audacity
2. Locate the karaoke file in the explorer
3. Drag and drop it into Audacity
4. Now Audacity will have the waveform of the file
5. Click on record.
Now, the first track (karaoke) will play in the background and a second track (voice only) will be generated on the fly
(Remember preferences should have 2 things
1. Recording device should be mic, and not mixer
2. there shd be a tick mark in the box "Play other tracks while recording new one")
6. After the song is fully sung, press stop
7. Do the desired post production work (amplify, echo, etc)
8. Export it as an mp3 and save it on the desktop
9. Close Audacity, convert mp3 on desktop to .rar
10 Upload to HSM

Coming to your second question of whether there is any way one can select complete voice track and set the sound level to ONE level so that the voice level will sound similar throughout the song.

Actually, it is desirable NOT to have one level throughout the song, as the song demands that such a thing. What you can do is use the 'envelope tool' and draw envelopes at various phrases in the songs, so that the level goes upto that level for that phrase

See Harish, like in this case of my Jhumroo song, what I did is remixed the cleaned copy of my Voice track which had saved it separately in a sub-folder called 'Data'. I always save the voice track seperate in .wav format. Now, if I had not saved it, I would had to record the song once again completely.

Now what happens is that sometimes, the data file length might vary if you start the song recording by skipping the beginning music of the song and/ or ignored the ending music part... In that case the voice data length of the total song becomes shorter and then when u need to re-mix such voice click on the Karaoke track, u need to add the silence in the begnning with exaclt number of seconds so that the song begins at the correct point!! U got me now?

Check out my re-mixed song of Jhumroo!!! No noise, correct Echo effect throughout the song!! Hope u all like it!!

OMkar Bhau,
There are two "Silence". One is under "Effects" and the other one is under "Generate". The one under "Effects", silences the selected part (without moving the track), whereas the one under "Generate" really generates the silence of whetever chosen length in seconds (in this case the track moves). Using the second one you can adjust to wherever time you want the voice track to start (timing).
Now, Breahting is as you all said is very importatnt, sometimes you want it to be listened at other times not. Try to use Zoom In function on the voice track (several times) to get to the real details of the recorded voice waves and then work on the breathing part of the track either to remove, silence or lower in volume. I usully don't do this and keep it as it is. Anyway, with "Zoom In" many other things on very specific parts of the track can be worked, refined with pretty good accuracy.
Now to Normalizing the track. I know this is very difficult and there is no one good tool to get the best out. I never face this issue (& like to keep it natural), but try using "Normalize" as you described, coupled (or even separately) with "Compressor" under "Effects". Try different experiments and find out the best you want. Agian I agree this is going to be tedious job. To be honest, I never used those tools until today.
May be Harish has other ways to do it in a better way.

@OMkarbhai, at some critical moments in a song, one needs to sing softly, or loudly (example:yahoooo!) as per the demands of the song. Imagine if the entire song is at one decibel level, it will sound so flat!

I totally understand what u are saying... The modulations are quitre imp in the song. BUT, I am talking about the sound level.. e.g. when I sing a line in the song using certain amount of breath and certain distance btw me and mic.... But while singing the next line, my face might move little closer and I might the breath more deep than previsous... Now this affects the sound level... Are u getting me now?? And so I want to get rid of such problems and make the sound (not modulations) at one level!!

Man re tu ...." during childhood I never understood what was it about, but I stuck to it & even today I could intrepret is as I like and still not understand everything. The song appears so simple but is full of meaning and not that easy to sing. Harish dada aapne yeh gana aasani se gaya hai. Voice bhi bahot clear hai, bus track ki kami hain. Congratulations!

Track dhundate dhundate to paaw thak gaye hai, isliye ab main bhi voice track hi upload kar deta hoon. Lgata hai mera number hi nahee lagega duet mein. Sab log to duet ki que mein khade hain to hum solo hi upload kar dete hain.

sanjaybhai, i think u have done an excellent job here. In the first line, I was struggling to get the variations in the word 'jaane' and cd not succeed. But you have got it right there! I think the slow numbers are your forte.

One area of improvement i can think of is...though the song is very slow paced, some of the words in the song are sung quickly. But I did not find such 'fastly sung' words in your song. No need to worry. I think when you have a tabla accompaniment, then things will fall into place. Because, each cycle comes with a deadline, and at the end of the cycle you will realise you have to sing so many words. Singing songs like these without tabla is like working on a project without a deadline.

Oh My GOD!!!!! Sanjay and Harish!!! First of this is cut to cur philosophical song. It tell you about the nature of mind!!! And also tells you so vital aspects and realities of life!! I would LOVEEE to dedicate this song for you all here!!! I dont have the karaoke track BUT I will try my BEST to sing it as good as possible. Just give me few days, let me hear the original and also Lata and Kishore's version of it!!! I have to study a lot and practice also a lott!!!

One more thing, GEET has posted one song here but I have noticed that her song post is not yet appeared here. Even I saw her last post after few days!! Anyone has any idea about this issue?

I agree fully, I tend to get a bit slower when singing without track (this is just a sign of getting too much into the song while singing). A track definately helps.
What I like about your singing is your voice remains so clear throughout irrespective of low or high pitch, and it appears you are at ease while singing.

Sanjay, thx for your compliments! Actually, I have exactly the same problem (slow singing) and that is why I recognised it in your song. I have done some deep thinking on this, and my hypothesis on this is like this. (I might be totally wrong on this though). There are 2 types of people in this world. One who give higher priority to 'swaras' and the other who give higher priority to 'taal' or time. Of course, for great singers, they can do both at the same time. For me, I grope around to get the swars right (of course, all this happens in milliseconds) and ultimately we get the swars right, but in the mean time, time beats us. Other people get the beat right, but most often, while reaching on time, they go slightly off-key.

You are very right there. Slight delay occurs (keeps on occuring) as the mind and ears want to make sure the "swara" is met (correct). This happens especially when there is no background track (which many times hides/masks the flaws in singing or "swara").

According to me, in Meditation and Music (forget abt meditation here), a person has to break the boundries and try to explore different unknown areas!! A singer HAS to sing ALL types of songs, according to me THEN ONLY one can ENJOY the singing!!!

This is a HUGE surprise OMkar! How did you manage to incorporate the youthful 'andaaz' of Amit Kumar? Listening to your song one can guess that the original is sung by Amit Kumar! One area of improvement if I may suggest...your voice wavers a bit. If you ca practise singing 'aaaaa' for a long time in a very consistent decibel level, it may result in a quantum leap. Also learning classical music for a couple of years will help.

Coming to Bhavana...it was difficult to believe she was not Anuradha Paudwal. Has she modelled on her? She has a very beautiful voice and bang on technicals (sur/taal) Her diction is also like Anuradha Paudwal which can improve. Pls tell us more abt Bhavana. Is she your friend/relative/neghbour? Is she on HF?

Arey Harish, thanks for ur suggessions. Wherever u find the waves, believe me it was kept intensional. I can send you the Dry copy to hear if u want. In the original song Amit Kumar has not kept waves but these days I am practicing on waves a lottt. I want to make a practice to bring waves in my song. It helps enhance the expresions in the song. And for keeping 'aaaaa' longer time, I really found that simple (which looked like) 'Aaaa' very difficult sometimes. May be lack of concentrations. Par koi Baat Nahi, I will hear the song carefully, I will when I get time, I will try to rectify those mistakes. Thanks for ur critical comments

Bhau, You appear nervous in the beginning, but you get better and better then after. I can understand your sleepless night (lagta hai duet ka asar ho). Overall, very well sung, and sure as you felt, you could do better than that as you get used to duets. Voice is clear, notes are right and wavering is marvellous.
Bhavna ji kya kahena. Woh to professional lagte hai. First I would like to welcome her here. I agree with you all her voice is sweet, she renders beautifuly with correct notations and her voice resembles a lot to Anuradhra ji. I enjoyed this DUET song very much. Keep it up.

Arey Naahi Re Sanjay!!! Yaar Bhavana already had sent me the track couple of weeks ago and I have been trying to find time to record my voice over it!!! And really I am very much in queue to sing with GEET madam!!!

Sanjay, do u really feel I was nervous in the beginning? I heard Amit Kumar part very very well and I wanted to keep the song exactly as it is. Because dont forget it was R D Burman who had approved its final recording. Each and every part of song is scientifically tested by MDs like Pancham... I was sligghtly cautious while singing first lines, but then I took a little break and then recorded the song and untill I was not happy (ofc, its not the BEST) I did not even send it to Bhavana!! So I guessed its fairly ok and finalized the take... In the line 'Pyar Yahan Hai, Tu Kahan Hai', in 'TU' there is a slight complicated MURKI taken by Amit Kumar... In my version, its bit simple (I had to keep it that way)... And thats where I feel I lacked and feel that I can do much better than this!!! Anyways, dheere dheer sab thhik ho jayega!! Practice makes man perfect!!

Arey Yaar log, we have to do something for GEET. She already posted her song... And just because admin is not there how can we wait the post to appear here? Let me ask her if I can post her song here... what do u guys think?

Very well sung Bhavana and Omkar..........what can on say except "simply fantabulous". Bhavana has a really beautiful singing voice and just like the others have said her voice truly depicts that of Anuradha Paudwal's. Well done, keep singing........

Mera Raaz (duet with Ashaji)
There is this software available which can remove the vocals from an audio track. So I removed Rafi Saab's vocals (how criminal of me!) and used it as a Karaoke track
Now there are two problems in this.
1. the software doesn't work on all songs. Only the latest ones recorded in stereo. So, we can't use it to generate Karaoke tracks from our 50s and 60s and 70s songs.
2. along with the vocals, some music also disappears. In my song, since i had selectively used the filter (instead of using the filter for the whole song) the background music while I was singing was not as 'bright' as when Asha was singing.

If anyone is interested I can generate Karaoke track like these for any songs of Naya Daur and Mughal-E-Azam

@OMkar, when I used esnip widgets, it started playing at twice the speed. Don't know the reason.

Listened to Geet's voice. Very sweet! Sounds like a 15-yr old girl.

Amod, heard your song. You have sung it very differently from the original number. Looks like you have sung it in a classical khayal style. If I had not heard the original song, I would have def. said that you have sung well. I am curious to know abt the reasons behind your improvisations. I do not consider myself to be a singer. Its just one of those occasions when one lets ones hair down.
I do listen a lot of Hindustaani Classical music .... may be that has caused, what you have mentioned,

What a sweet voice you have. Aboslutely sweet. Perfectly rendered with ups and downs with full of emotions. Just superb. I love also your style of singing (singing the last few words of the line with fading). If you listen Rafi sahab, who was master in that, and manytimes, if you listen carefully Ashaji, both used that to pour pure emotions in the song. Oh sorry, Welcome to HM first, almost forgot it. Hope you find well here. You will also have a choice to pick up male singers (bilkul bhare pade huye hain yahan to, bulao to bed se uthkar gane ko taiyyar ho jayenge) for any duet you plan to sing. All are good friends and will definately try to match your singing style and quality.
Would t be OK for you to sing "Nani teri morni ko more le gaya, baki jo bacha to...." farmaish song? would love to hear in your voice. Anyway, choose any song we will love to hear your voice.

Now after hearing this, I would like to say you can really become Gazal King. Only do one things, bring out variations in the songs e.g. when you sing 'yeh akhri shamme bhi bujhane ke liye aaj' line 2 times then in the second time you have to sing it differently and leave the note on higher side!! (u need more explanation, let me knw, becasue its QUITE IMPORTANT for any song) Always think of singing a tune in various styles; i mean by taking different routes of notes to reach to the same note and tune!!!

I have just recorded the 1st stanza. 1st i uploaded without editing (raw).
It had some un-necessary background sounds (Since i have bought a new PC the old NERO
wave software loaded on my old PC was not available). So i downloaded a sound editing s/w,
edited the song, and re-upoaded the same old song again.

See, the song 'Man-re' has 2 stanzas, 1st is ... iss jeevan ki ... AND .... Itnaa hi upkaar ...
I have not sung the 2nd stanza at all in whatever i have uploaded here ...

@OMkar bhai, thanks for your kind words. I am weak on the beat part and it is good that I am learning it from you. It will help me if you can pinpoint where i missed the beat. Actually, i finalised it on take 2, without going through more editions, as i thought it is good enuff! But I like people who are perfectionists!

Regarding the JAANBAAZ karaoke, I don't have the original song. If you can upload the original song somewhere, or locate it on esnips and give me the URL, I'll see if I can devocalise it with the software I have.

Yaar Harish, luckily I used to play Tabla when I was a kid and I was quite good at it and used to accompany my father in his programms, Mehfils. I always thank my father for sending me for Tabla Classes Lakh Lakh Pranam Unhe!!

This song is using basically set on two set of beats. First set is Single Beat and second set is Two Beats. So you have to start on second SET. Hear the attached clip! Hope you dont mind me teaching to you who is already such a good singer and owner of lovely voice. And please do not mind my swar in this clip... I have not mastered the song, just recorded the explanation about the beats. Sincerely hope it helps you!

Your beginning is fine, but you miss the beat somewhere at 'Aaja mere sanam' and totally missed in the lines 'Dil pareshan hai...' And then check the complete song as well if its on correct beat. Sorry to point it out this way yaar Hope u dont mind! And after u check, please do record once again, I would LOVE to have your version of this song

It seems this is indeed an area for improvement for you. There are two occcasions, first one appeared in "Beqarar dil tu gayeja" and now "Sham-e-ghum ki kasam". I am sure you are taking my observations positively to get to perfection.
OMkar bhau is right there to notice that in this song, but I was suprised to see no coment from the Chela on "Beqarar dil" (may be I am wrong there). Anyway, this is a very small thing for improvement, otherwise the singing, the clear voice, the feelings are just great. I would have loved more of Talat style wavering/modulations (which I think is god given and definatey not easy to reproduce). Again, do not worry too much about off beat, you are simply doing fine and as you practice you will get it. You have done an excellent job and we appreciate your singing multitalent.
OMkar bhau, right critics will have positve effect on all of us and based on your (Tabla) skills you had good right in pointing this out.

Sanjay, you see the Mehfil has just started. Hum Sab Ne Milkar Ek Beej Boya Tha, Ab Kahin Jaake Ek Chhotasa Paudha Aaya Hain. Shuruwat Mein Jyada Dhoop Denge To Paudha Murjha Jayega!!! So we have to protect it from harsh sun light and support it to grow and then gradually we will let it grow on its own!! Dheere dheere we have to become more and more free with each others and then only we can really grow!! And there is no fix time limit to achieve this... Let hope we get more and more members to participate and be comfortable with each other!! Cross fingers!

Sorry Sanjay, but I beg to differ! Never make mistake in beat and sur... Thats always the biggest rule of singing. Does not matter if you can not put expressions, but if u miss beat or sur, the song is not good at all. I request you to take my word for it!!

thanks for your inputs, they are really invaluable. And I agree with OMkar bhai that "if u miss beat or sur, the song is not good at all". They are like spellings and grammar. One ca't write a great piece of literature with incorrect grammar.

King Rafi(Talat),

As you have asked, here is a Feedback.

1.Overall, very good performance by you.

2.As I mentioned once earlier, your music tracks are once again accurate and this is one song wherein the opening and interlude musical bits are as important as the song.

3.You opened the song with "Shame Gham" in stead of "Shamein Gham" in the original. Am I right? But, your later repititions are Ok.

4.Next, at "Aabhi Jaa, Aabhi Jaa", the second "Aabhi Jaa" was dragged by you more than needed. It has to fall slightly shorter! Similar is the case with the "Kis Tarah" of "Dekh Jaa, Kis Tarah"!

5.In general, for this song, you need to adopt an even more controlled/whispering voice than what you actually did. Yeh Gaana Itna Bhi Khul Ke Nahin Gaana Chhahiye.

These are my humble comments. Needless to say, the overall rendition was quite good on the ear.

Nope............i've already sang "piya Bin" in form of raag yaman..............the karaoke i have is "ajeeb dastan hain yeh"...........but i dun know how to set the setting...........in volume control or audiocity....i just wanna know how u mix music with voice ..............i used to do it, but i forgot now ....so plz i need ur help

anwar mian, thx for your kind words. Ashok Khosla? I have not heard his voice. I had previously thought it was close to Pankaj Udhas (obviously not that refined, but that slight nasal tinge and sharpness).

Yes, Yeh hawa Yeh raat Yeh chandni will come sooner than 'kahin na kahin dil lagana padega', as I think the former is more suited to my style.

I totally agree that we shd not sing the same songs as others unless we have already recorded it. Actually I confess I am guilty here. When Sanjay asked for the Karaoke track of 'Man Re', I remembered this great song and recorded knowing well that Sanjay was preparing to record it as well mujhe muvaaf kar dijiyega.

@OMkarji, i have left some feedback for Bhavana in her esnips page. wanted to know your opinion on that. Also, I had scraped you on Orkut...

Harish dada, Applaud your taking any critics positively. We want to see you nearing perfection. Lets keep heathy critics on. I am sure "Yeh hawa..." will be a great upload and do not worry about "Man re" repeatition, it was afterall fun for all. I really dont think singing one song by more than one person could make the forum un-interesting. Ofc there is thousands of songs but now in this case the song chosen by Harish both times (Man Re tu kahe and Shaam e gham ki kasam) was really loved by so many other members as well. Honestly, I really dont see any harm to the atmosphere here, rather its a very good sign that we are getting along with each other so nicely and now even started giving a contructive criticism feedback. I sincerely feel we are on very much right track!!

Aur haan Sanjay, I am already working on Man Re Tu Kahe Na Dheer Dhare and now also planning a Talat Mehmood Song... Pehle Hesitate hua karta tha, lekin ab socha hai ke jo hoga dekha jayega!!! Aap Hi Log Samne Ho Na, Phir Dar Kis Bat ka?? Bass, thoda time mil jaay to record kar loonga!!

Par phir bhi, any other thought on repeatation of songs? Anwarbhai and Harishbhai, you can explain us why its harmful for out Mehfil, may be I am missing some point. Please advise!

@sanjay, my experience with duets: Had sung two duets on stage during the ganpati festival, for an audience of around 400 (Ude Jab Jab Zulf and Aja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum). Went off peacefully. But just a couple of days before that event, sand another duet (Ajahuna Aye Balama) to an audience of 50. Since there was only one mic, we ended up snatching mics in between lines. Alson, in the josh, I made a mistake and sang a female line too! Fortunately, in that flow, my female partner had forgotten to sing her line the one which i sang. So in the end, it went off well!

@OMkar bhai, the only reason i don't encourage the same song being sung by more than one singer here is the inevitable comparison that crops up in a human mind. I believe, we sing first for ourself, for the deep sense of satisfaction it gives us to the mind, body and spirit. And for this, it does not mind how well or poorly it is sung. We are not singing for a competition. Hence I want to avoid comparisons at all costs.

Wowwww, Khobibehen!! This was the song my father used to teach his students and I always had to accompany him on Tabla.. But dear, the words are 'Sakhi Yeri Aali Piya Bin... Sakhi Kalan Parat Mohe Ghadi Pal Chhina Bin... Yeri Aali Piya Bin!!!!!

Khobi yaar aapne to mera bachpan samne laakar rakh diya... You have sung it very nice. But ofc, u need to practice on how to hold the exact note for longer time and also work on rythm (Taal)... BUT I would say you are doing very very good, keep up the good work like this only!! Yaman used to be dad's fav Raaga!! I still remember I used to hate playing tabla in those days... I always wanted to go out and play with my friends but mere baba mujhe jabardasti bithake mujhse Tabla bajvate thee Anyways, today its helping me so much to understand the rythm!! All thanks to my Baba only.

- he has between 20-25 classes when i checked last time (singing, tabla, sitaar, keyboardin etc)

- it's 20 min class and charges $25/ class

Good idea for Amod bhai. But a scanner might not always be available at hand. He can also use the hindi script like you OMkarbhai. How do you do that? There are several ways, and for me the best way is to install this program 'Baraha', and whenever that program is on, whatever u type comes in the language selected in Baraha, anf after you are through, just close the program, and u r back typing English.

I agree with this, but I don't think we'll do it in public, but we might do it in mind. First of all there are just 5 of us who sing and post, and the last thing we want is someone to leave and stop posting their songs because they think they are not 'good enough'.

A beautiful example of how KK wd have sung this song if SDB had chosen him! Yaar OMkar, tera awaaz tere guru se kitna milta julta hai! Yes, you have carried out all the twists in the lines very well, especially the following words
ye in line 1 of first antara
bhi in line 2 of first antara

when u sang the mukhda for the first time, you sang 'wohi' and when u sang it for the sang time you sang 'wahi'. Personally i prefer the 'wohi'.

I think the only word that has not come correctly is 'main' as in geet 'main' tere liye, in the mukhda and last lines of antara.

But great singing nevertheless for such a tough song! Well done OMkar bhai!!

Harish, u r absolutely right. I noticed that 'Wohi' thing and also 'Hai' as u mention... Good observation, dude!! Yaar, u know what??? When I sing the song and when I close the eyes I forget my lines sooooo many times and I have to re-record the songsss In case of 'Dekho Maine Dekha' song, I sun complete song nicely and then after I finalized it, I realised that I sung it 'Dekho maine.... Phoolon ke sheher mein HO ghar apna', whereas actually its 'phoolon.... HAI ghar apna'..... The whole meaning changes with this silly mistake... And then I had to re-record those lines again and patch them!!! Gossshhh, pata nahi mujhe ho kya jata hai, sometimes!!

Yeh Sanjay, Khobibehen kidhar hai???? Yaar, yeh HF mein itne Rati Maharathi log hain... Like Amaanush, Azgarkhan, behenji-turned-moderator, ravikumar, eskayes, etc!! Why all of these are not participating??? Is it because we really singing soo good???? And then they feel that they are less good than us??? No yaarooo, we all sing fairly ok...But we surely improve day by day, but with help of each other's sincere comments, feedback and passion. Bahot khob (khub). Aapki aawaz bahut hi sweet hai (even Pya Binn). Kyaa baat hai. Sweet aawaz aur classical song, maza aa gaya. I do not know what is your ambition (PhD or singing). Agar classical singer banana hai to practice bahut karni padegi. As an earli classical singer you have done a great job.

This is indeed a very nice try. Talat in KK's (I would rather tend to say AK's) aawaz. Most of the Talat songs are difficult for breathing and wavering (modulations). While you managed well the breathing (at some places appeared tough for breathing), Wavering was KK style, which I find great as we are here with our own versions and to encourage everyone's creativity. I also loved you placed the lyrics at the same time. So one more feather in your cap that will let you and others open up even further.
Just last really small comment, I felt (and I may be 500% wrong) with "Jiske" there was something wrong (I do not know whether it was "wavering" or whether it was the note).
In fact I found "Geet main tere liye" was very well sung.
Thanks and we are waiting for the "Man re tu kahe na" in KK ki aawaz..

After providing my micro critics on others, it is time for me to get some from you.
Continueing on variety, I thought of singing female song in my voice.
Now just warning you ahead, I cannot be a female, so take this as my version, but I expect you to provide full ciritcs without hesitation.
Another thing is the same story, whenever I upload in Esnips, it looses the quality. So please let me know if this one is acceptable, otherwise I will upload a .rar file here. I know I have missed few things here and there, so I am going to check whether you are providing true critics or not.

Aaii Gaa, !!!! What a song u chose.... Let me hear it once again... U know what? I was even thinking of singing some female songs in my voice without caring if sounds good or bad.... But u broke the ice and now I am more relaxed!!!!!!

One thing I can tell after hearing it for the first time!!!!
1. Sanjay, is there some noise around ur voice in this songggg!!!
2. Chain se Hum ko kabhi has become little flat.... put correct breaks in btw 2 words... extremely imp for expressions and to avoid flatness in the expressions
3. do some hard work on the Murkis taken by Ashaji in this song more.... You have done welll but I am sure, you can do better than thiss... And when you sing it more better, u will see how much u will enjoy ittt!! If u have harmonium or synthesizer, practice each and every Murki before u even think of listening to this Karaoke track!!!!

4. Aise Hi Gaata Reh Mere Dost!!! Good Good!!!

Well you guys wont believe me, even i was preparing to put up a female song...amazing!!

sanjay, i am very familiar with the mukhda but not the antara of the song. After listening to you, i can say you have sung it VERY beautifully and i really enjoyed listening to it. In fact, I feel opposite of what OMkar bhai has said. I feel u have put in more variations than in the original song. I feel the original song is a smooth up and down song, with lots of twists coming in some key words, but not in the sentence per se. As long as you take care of those key words, u r fine.

Example: In the first line 'Chain se humko kabhi, aap ne jeene na diya', the ornamentation is in the word 'kabhi' only. In the second line, the key word is 'chaha', and when the first line is sung again, the focus is on 'chain' not 'kabhie'. I hope u understood me.

But since I was not too familiar with the song, I was not in the 'compare with the original' mode. So i really enjoyed it

Mashallah, what song u have sung yaar Harish!!! Total SUR mein gaya hain.... Voice mein consistency bhi bahut hai!!! There are some places, where you became suddenly little weak. But that may be because of the breath.

One suggession: Now think of singing this same song (GEM) with all those little Taan, MIIND, Murkiss as taken by Lataji (I know its difficult, but try karne mein koi harz hai and those things makes the song more beautiful, so try it) and as I suggested to Sanjay as well!!

The following quote of Arvindbhai made me re-think over my idea of recording songs!!!!! I used to think that I am normally a very happy person and I can record the song any time. After I read the following quote of Arvindbhai, I started observing myself when exactly I am more happy than in usual case. I recorded my Jhumroo song when I was quite happy for some personal reasons. And I immediately noticed that I am more happy than normal and I decided to record the Jhumroo song. Though some people complain about the mixing of the song but till today no one complained about the quality or expressions in the song. There are couple of songs which I always wanted to record (Ofc, I am quite confident that I would try my best to sing them well) but I am not getting the right push for me to be record it. So really mood is soo much important for the music. Hope this quite of Arvindbhai also helps you all.

Thoughts are welcome!!! Please share your own thoughts!!!

Hello Friends, I've tried my best with this Track. I played the Track back to back with origional and this just runs.....I've tried best not to appear as if I am constantly trying to keep up with the Track. Seems Track makers dont try it out themselves before unleashing it to the public.

sirjee mistakes like MOsam is unpardonable. however great a work you do on the song, the human mind tends to dwell on the mistakes. I believe 'a song is as bad as its weakest link'
Did you record it in the morning? Because I have this voice-shaking problem in the mornings, and by evening my voice peaks, and i guess it is same with everyone.
I thought you kept the mic a bit closer, resulting in extra bass in your voice. I think u shd keep it slightly further. you can always increase the decibels in audacity using the amplify function later.

Singing improves with singing. You simply need to sing for an hour at least everyday whether u record or not. I hope all our friends do that here. Singing only once a week while recording is NOT a good idea.

Indeed what you say is quite right. People, freinds will percieve any song differently (this is reality). Knowing this, lets change ourselves and use softer language for any remarks (but lets not miss on conveying his/her perception). This will definately attract the new comers. On the other hand lets accept any eligible critics and perceptions with big heart (if we want to improve further)
