Listen to the opening stanza of these three compositions - i bet you'll notice the similarity.

Tumhen Husn Deke Khuda Ne

Pal Do Pal Ka Saath Hamara

And the third is a nonfilm Gujarati song ( I'll be u/ling it on Auld Lang Syne in a short while.)

Kahoon Chu Jawani Ne Pachi Vari Ja

Sajdah Ji,

As I mentioned in my very first post, pairs which are similar in parts, either in Mukhda or in Antara, are plenty. I am sure that you are with me when I said the two pairs (one of Iqbal Quereshi and the other of N.Datta) that I mentioned in my first post are almost identical both in Mukhada and Antaras.

I am simply seeking more of such almost identical pairs, not just similar ones in parts.

Well, Prince Ji's Dawa about the Kaise Kahoon duet and the Dr.Vidya duet needs to be examined, after we get the Dr.Vidya song also.

Very interesting, Mahesh Ji. I cannot place the third Rafi song(Nai Maa) you mentioned. Would you mind u/ling it, Mahesh Ji?

Here is the song from 78 rpm record

Gham hon ke sitam tu kabhi aansoo na bahana
jhuk jaayega ik din tere kadmon pe Zamana.

SINGER : MOHD RAFI
MOVIE : NAI MAA (1960)
MUSIC : RAVI

This song was also sung by Suman Kalyanpuri.

Agreed, Mahesh Ji, though there is some variance at "Aansoo Na Bahana" part. I think if "Tu Hind Bane" is 100, Kya Kya Sitam is 95 and this "Gham Ho Ke Sitam" is 87, in terms of identicality.

Thanks very much, Mahesh Ji.

Venkat bhai,

A few days ago, we had a brief discussion on the following songs in another thread:
http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=379447

Bambai ka Chor (1962): hai bahaar-e-bagh-e-duniyaa chand roz, chand roz - Rafi
Aadmi Aur Insaan (1969): zindagi ke rang kayi re, saathi re - Asha

The more I hear these songs, they sound almost identical tunes. What do you think?

Main Kal Phir Milungi (Lata & Rafi) - Dr. Vidya & Kisi Ki Mohabbat Mein (Asha & Rafi) - Kaise Kahoon

Both have the same exact tune, both are composed by S.D Burman.

Prince Ji,

The examination is over! The result: both the S.D.Burman songs cited by you are identical in tune, both in Mukhda and Antaras. I do not have to add even the 'almost' to the 'identical'!

Hats off to you, Prince Ji, for giving me and other friends a genuine third pair of this nature! I really appreciate your musical sense.

Regards,

Venkat

P.S. Incidentally, the Kaise Kahoon(1964) song was uploaded above by Lakshmi and the other Dr.Vidya(1962) song was uploaded by Nasar Ji. Must downloads for all, because they are nice songs and more importantly, because of their identicality in tune!

Hari Bhai,

I feel you are certainly right as far as the Mukhdas are concerned. But, I do not remember the Antara of the Asha song (Zindagi Ki Rang Kayi Re) to give my comment on the Antaras. But, if you found the Antaras too as very similar, then there is a case to include them in the list. But then, they are by different singers!

Thank You as well for pointing out the other two pairs, it is a great find, and shows you have a fantastic ear for music !.

Would you happen to know why SDB composed the same exact tune for both song situations ?.

It is not as if he had a dearth of tunes, and I doubt he would have forgotten that he composed the same tune earlier.

What could be the reason for this ?.

Good find - PA - they are indeed identical !! And thanks to Venkat for starting off this interesting search.

1964 was the period when SDBurman was laid up...he stopped taking up new films and and had difficulty in completing his films on hand. It is possible that faced with this situation, this idea may have occurred to someone - to use an old (and not so well known) tune fitted with new words - with the approval ( or not !! ) of the producer/director.
