A million thanks for these rare gems. I was looking for these songs since ages. Quality is amazing. I am very grateful for that.! Do you have the rest of the ‘Chowdhri’ songs?

I would like to share some information about the film. To my knowledge, Noor Jehan was 15 when she acted in ‘Chowdhri’ (1941) as 2nd heroin. Music was composed by Master Ghulam Haider and lyricist was F D Sharaf. Film’s cast includes Ghulam Mohd, Roop Lekha, Ajmal, Pal Chand Barq, M Ismail and Durga Khote. Director was Niranjan Pal. Almost all the songs of ‘Chowdhri’ were super hit. According to my source, Noor Jehan had sung four songs in ‘Chowdhri’, includes:
1. Ik dunia naviin wasa lyye, aa agan lagan di laa lyye (duet with Ghulam Haider)
2. Dekho dekho ehdi kesi sohni chaal ae (duet with Ghulam Haider)
3. Bus bus ve dholna (duet with Ghulam Haider)
4. Sajna tere bina ji naiyon lagda (solo)
I just heard ‘Kyun luk luk hassde o’ and ‘Kothe te aa maahiya’, and have no idea about the singer. Urzang Ji kithey O kujj help karo Sir Ji

Hi friends!
Here is the information about ‘Shehti Murad’ songs.
'Sehti Murad' was released in 1940. Master Ghulam Haider was the music director.
‘Uchi maadi te dudh pai ridkaan’ is sung by Shamshad Begum and the duet ‘Gallan kar kar hassde ne’ is by Umrao zia begum & Master Ghulam Hiader himself.
There was another duet in the film ‘ Menu akhiyan di de gayo saai’ (sung by Umrao zia Begum & Ghulam Haider). Does any body have this song?

There was a song having words like ' Dhol makhna,
dil pardesiyaan daa raazi rakhnaa' , a very nice one.
The movie brought more fame to Ragini than others.

Production of GowanDi commenced in 1941 but was completed
and released in Prabhat Talkies, Lahore on June 25,1942. Veena
and Shyam led the cast. It was the first movie of Veena.
Sohan Lal Sahar who was a minister in Kapurthala state wrote
a few lyrics and also had a smart part in movie too. MD was
Pandit Amar Nath.

Ashish Ji, the singer of kdf is Shamshad. This song was picturised
on Anjana, the heroine. NJ acted as her younger sister and as we
all know she did not give playbacks untill she gave up acting in
late 50s/early 60s.
Afaik, there was no female singer named Badrunisa.

I think it was Preeto nika jiya.
There was also a line in this song:
main dudh pee jaan vaTTee, preeto nikaa jiyaa

Heard a lot of times in the good old days from Amritsar
Jallundhar stations. I may be wrong but the singer was
Parkash Kaur.
In those days a radio recording by Ritu Daman was also
frequently played:
meraa Dig pyaa kidhre jhumkaa Jalundhar sail krendii daa
.. and also a RR by some male singer:
tere husan dii katcheri laggii, te dooron dooron aun chagDe

Yes, I have heard a couple of time: tuun kahda patwari.

Virji, mera dig payaa kidhre was a radio recording lasting about 6/7
minutes, not a 78rpm recording. There was another radio recording
often aired:
uche chobaare main khaDee, ve Dhola khaDee sukaanii aan main kais
rus rus jaandaa meraa jobnaa, kahnuun malii beThon pardes
Dholia ve, meraa maaf kariin kuchh bolyaa
I am not sure but I think the singer was Mohinder Kaur.
I am sure AIR Jalundhar must be having these in their library.

I take out about one minute piece from the recording, make out two or three
editings. Listen to them, decide which one sounds normal/near normal to me
and make a final copy. I always keep the original.

The song uploaded from Madari was a film version and I donot think there is need to stretch pitch.Tarian the Chaven can be stretched few seconds.

I slowed "Ohde naal hon giyan" using cool edit by about 15 seconds.

Shamshad's voice seems to be deeper. The film version should certainly not
be subject to speed variation.

I visited Mr. Suman Chaurasiya of Indore on 27 aug 2005. He has vast collection of 78 RPM records and also EP/LP/SP of all languages including punjabi films. I saw in library Balo record with songs...Sohne Phul Pyar De..& Jinda diye hole hole ro... I requested him to send me recordings, so let us hope we I get it for HF. I may also infom that Sahir Ludhianavi has written songs only for this punjabi film.

50 Glorious years of Punjabi Music a five casette set was issued by HMV just 5-6 years back and it had common songs, the set should be available easily.

2.A ten casette set Milleneum Punjabi songs was also issued by HMV in 2000 which had some rare songs from 1935,like Pooran,Dhol Shahjada by Nawab kumhad,Heer by Ranjhan Jalludin,by nand lal sharma ner 1936-37 .many rare songs from this set already uploaded by me.

50 Glorious years of Punjabi Music a five casette set was issued by HMV just 5-6 years back and it had common songs, the set should be available easily.

2.A ten casette set Milleneum Punjabi songs was also issued by HMV in 2000 which had some rare songs from 1935,like Pooran,Dhol Shahjada by Nawab kumhad,Heer by Ranjhan Jalludin,by nand lal sharma ner 1936-37 .many rare songs from this set already uploaded by me.

Here going to share a very rare song which I was searching for years:

Bhakde Chon Aandi Ik Mutiyaar Nachdi

The siger is as per my information Deedar Pardesi or Deedar sndhu ,don,t know exactly....

If any body knows please confirm

As per my information. This song was sung at a function held during the inauguration ceremony of
BHAKHDA DAM by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru.

and here the word Mutiyaar means Electricity(original meaning being a young girl).
