It's survey time again. Next in the series of Desert Island soundtracks
"SurveykshaNs", we have Madan Mohan.

Please visit the URL mentioned below and select scores that you would
like to take along with you if you have to leave for a deserted island.
The list of all film scores composed by Madan Mohan is provided on the
survey page to select from. You can choose upto 15 scores. There's no
lower limit.

The poll page is self-explanatory. Apart from the selection of albums,
you need to provide your name and email address. Also, please provide
your overall rating of Madan Mohan's music.

When you submit your entry, you will see a confirmation page with all
of your selected scores listed. Please save the list so that you don't
have to ask me to send it to you later.

The survey will be open at least up to March 26, 2005. It may then be
extended further based on the activity and requests. You can submit
your entry more than once if you change your mind, using the same name
and email ID. Only the last submitted entry will be considered valid.

Presented below are results of the Surveykshan about Desert Island soundtracks of Madan Mohan. It was the 4th survey in the series. To remind you the process, voters were supposed to select their favorite film scores composed by Madan Mohan, upto a maximum of 15 scores. There was no ranking associated to the selections.

The response, as expected, was not as enthusiastic as in some of the previous surveys (viz. R D Burman and S D Burman), but still significant. Thanks to everyone who participated. Here are the results and some analysis. Please feel free to add your own analysis from the data posted below and offer comments.

Highlights
===========
* 60 of his movies were selected as favorite by one or more participants. Among a total of 94 movies, that's about 64% of his movies.


* 35 movies were selected by over 10% voters. On the other hand, 13 of
his movies were selected by just one participant (about 3% of total
voters). 10 movies enjoyed selections by over 50% participants.

* The top spot was shared by 4 movies, each getting over 77% votes. In comparison with previous surveys, this was special. In all previous surveys (RDB, SDB, Salil) the difference between the favorite and the second most favorite movie was significant (at least 7%).

* Decade-wise favorites

1950s turned out to be the decade containing most of the favorite movies.

1950s - 25 movies
1960s - 21 movies
1970s - 13 movies
2000s - 1 movie

* Favorite decades

By sheer number of votes, 1960s was the clear winner. The movies from this decade got about 45% of total votes.
