The Kiwis made it again. In continuation with their 6-wicket win over England in the previous match, New Zealand grabbed a 148-run victory against Kenya. RL Taylor of the New Zealand team was elected the Player of the Match.

The 14th ODI of the ICC World Cup 2007 too did not favor the New Zealand opener L Vincent. Vincent got out in the very first over itself scoring nothing this time as well. However, captain Fleming who opened with Vincent did not yield to the pressure. He managed to play a good game and got a half-century, countering the criticism on his last match score against England. He held his head high against the powerful bowling of the Kenyans till the end of 20 overs, when he got run out. It all happened when Taylor, his partner, hit the ball from Kamande and the duo started for a run. Obuya, Kenya's best fielder grabbed the opportunity and hit the target much before Fleming made it to the wicket. The team had crossed 100 runs by then.

The game continued, however. It was the united spirit of the Kiwis that put forth a stunning run shower from the bats of their star batsmen. Following the captain, Taylor, Styris and McMillan came contributing significantly for the decent score 331 in 50 overs. Taylor's contribution this time was 85 against the previous zero in his match against England. Good come back! He struck eight boundaries and one 6. Styris and McMillan scored 63 and 71 from 62 and 48 balls respectively. McMIllan was particularly aggressive as he hit five 6's, creating a euphoric experience to the New Zealand fans. Wonderful performance by McMillan!

New Zealand 's 7 wickets owe fell to three O's, Odoyo, Ongondo, and Onyango who tried their best to restrict the New Zealand onslaught.

Kenya 's innings was spread to 49.2 overs, with all the eleven of the team trying their hands to score. Ouma who opened the match could not display his best. Though he managed a half-century in their winning match against Canada, this time he got a miserable run out after scoring a mere 4 runs off 21 balls. Obuya, who opened with Ouma also fell leg before. The team had to gain spirit in their tough match against Kiwis, and thus entered RD Shah. It was a superb feat that Shah showed in the grounds of St. Lucia. He scored 71 runs with eight 4's and two 6's till he was declared out in the 30 th over. Hats off to Vettori who managed to grab the ball of Shah that was bowled by himself.

Other significant contributors were Obuya, Odoro and Kamande who scored 21, 42, and 12 respectively. The graph of the Kenyan innings showed a deep fall towards the end, after the fall of Kamande in the 36 th over, and the team had to give up with all batsmen declared out in the middle of the 50th over.

New Zealand 's Mason, Franklin and Vettori got two Kenyan wickets each while Shane Bond got one. With this win, New Zealand entered in the Super Eights while Kenya has a decisive match against England on 24th March.
