Hi All
Renewing the request to Kamala Mohanty ji and Debapriyo to reupload the Oriya/Murphy song respectively. I'm trying to cobble the missing numbers of Rafi Sahab (YT is the reference since HF is purged regularly) Moving on to the mother tongue of Rafi Sahab i.e. Punjabi. (Sorry Bitrate is only 24 kpbs, and thus Audio Quality is not up to the mark and the song itself sounds incomplete. If someone has a better version, please upload Punjabi Song : Chal Kabaddi Chal Kabaddi Singers : Mohd Rafi Sahab, Shamshad Begum & chorus Film : Bhaiyaji Year : 1950 Lyrics : Aziz Kashmiri Music Director : Vinod Duration : 2.53 min Bitrate : 24 kbps I request the moderators to allow this low bitrate song for a while at least to enable collectors who are not too fussy about audio quality to download. Thanks and Regards Swaminathan |

Hi All,
Another Punjabi Song from the Film Bhaiyaji. The co-singer is S.Balbir, who in my view was vastly underrated. Somehow he got typecast as a Bhangra/Qawalli singer (Ke mein Jhooth Boliyan in Jaagte Raho or Yeh Desh hai Veer Jawanon ka or Aaj kyun humse Parda hai etc). He could match and hold his own against even Rafi Sahab ( I acknowledge this depsite my bais for Rafi Sahab) for all the notes and beats as a co-singer, which (to my limited knowledge) itself is a feat, matched perhaps only by Manna Dey. I am saying vastly underrated as I could not find any image or write up in the net about S.Balbir. I remember R&D had started a thread about him long time back, and most of the hits were duets/group songs with Rafi Sahab. Anyway the details of the song are Punjabi Song : Enan Mitti Diyan Moortan Singers : Mohd Rafi Sahab & S.Balbir Film : Bhaiyaji Year : 1950 Lyrics : Aziz Kashmiri Music Director : Vinod Duration : 3.08 min Bitrate : 128 kbps Regards Swaminathan This post has been edited by swaminathan63: Oct 23 2011, 09:42 AM |

Hi All
Thanks R & D for the YT link for Bhaiyaji songs. In fact YT also has other Rafi Sahab numbers in that film i.e. Rabba Mereya Dukhaan Ne Gherya, and Balle Balle Munde Mar Gaye. I do not have the link, but one can hunt for them in Surinder Sidhu's channel. I am trying to upload the ones which are not in YT, and simultaneously uploading them here, as they might have been purged, even if loaded earlier in HF. Another wonderful duet of Rafi Sahab with the vastly under rated Balbir. I am surprised there are no responses and there are lack of details about this singers carrer, which spanned almost three decades (Haste Zakhm - Yeh mana meri jaan, so he must have been active at least til 70s). The very fact that he could hold his own against Rafi Sahab, and match him in quite a few songs speaks volumes about him, albeit remaining typecast in Bhangra/Qawalli numbers. The details are Punjabi Song : Dil le gaya koi rab ji Singers : Mohd Rafi Sahab & S.Balbir Film : Lachchhi Year : 1949 Lyrics : ? Music Director : Hansraj Behl Duration : 3.11 min Bitrate : 128 kbps Regards Swaminathan |

Sometime I feel that only he can very well swim in Rafian flow and can match with Rafi Sahab's soulful voice (ofcourse Mann Da is a Class in its own way). Just remembering the duet of Kala Samandar 'Meri Tasveer Lekar Kya Karoge Tum Meri Tasveer Lekar' Thanks and Please carry on . It gets the hurt out in the open into the light, out of the darkness.

so far I have only found these punjabi songs with S. Balbir.
If you know any other, I would love to know it. Duniya Ik Paase Assi Donve Kalle - Mohammed Rafi & S. Balbir - Laaiye Tod Nibhaaiye (1966 - Punjabi) - S. Madan - Verma Malik/Naqsh Lyallpuri Na Main Koi Walli Aulea - Mohammed Rafi & S. Balbir - Mammaji (1961 - Punjabi) - S. Madan - Verma Malik Mera Baanka Desh Punjab - Mohammed Rafi & S. Balbir - Jagga (1964 - Punjabi) - Ustaad Alla Rakha - Manohar Singh Sehri Main Jatt Desh Punjab Da (Boliyaan) - Mohammed Rafi, Shamshad Begum, S. Balbir & Minoo Purshottam - Jagga (1964 - Punjabi) - Ustaad Alla Rakha - Manohar Singh Sehri [Even though YT says S. Balbir is one of the singers, I don't hear him in this song. What do you think. I think it is Surinder Kohli] Hariyaan Pailiyaan Bhariyaan Pailiyaan - Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle, S. Balbir & Minoo Purshottam - Chaudhury Karnail Singh (1960 - Punjabi) - Harbans - B. C. Bekal Amritsari I would also be interested in if there is list of Old School bhangra songs like the last two on this list. This post has been edited by r&d: Oct 25 2011, 10:16 AM |

Hi R&D Thanks as the lists serve the purpose of cross comparing & eliminating errors I could find only one addition of Rafi Sahab's songs in Punjabi, with S. Balbir This was Laajo 1963 Rab De Aashiq Ne Tauba Mohd.Rafi & Balbir This has been hosted in YT by Ahasan Qasim, the link being http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd8b92ydI1E I agree that the second song from film Jagga (Main Jatt Desh Punjab Da) does not sound like Balbir, the voice being too "Patli" Thanks and Regards Swaminathan |

USR Hi USR, When diehard Rafi Sahab fans also agree that S.Balbir was one of the few singers to match him, it is gratifying Thanks and Regards Swaminathan |
