I saw excellent write up along with links to Bhanumathi songs on net by a person called Saravanan. Very informative. The gentleman has taken lots of pains to dig up related information for each movie he has picked up. Just completed going through the write up. Propose to look for non-Bhanumathi songs from those movies and hear them. Must be interesting.

The Paalum Pazhamum duet is really excellent. In fact all the songs that I heard from this movie are great ( I have heard 8 of them). As usual, Viswanathan-Ramamurthy have given great music in this movie (like all other compositions of this team).

Regards,

Rajan

Ok here's the info. First of all it is not AMR, tho' it does sound like him. The singers are Shankar and Nithyakala (not even Jikki!)

Movie - Aavathellam Pennaley (meaning - Everything happens 'cos of a woman)

Thanks for the info.

In fact I had searched all over through google. I had also found these references. I had downloaded this song from cool toad - Old Tamil songs which had indicated the singers as AMraja-Jikki. Moreover, I got an impression that Aavathellam Pennaley was a movie of early nineties. However, I am unable to locate the page now where this year was indicated.

Therefore, we will settle for this being Shankar and Nithyakala song from Aavathellam Pennaley.

This again brings back the same thought in my mind - what a great contribution Harmandir Singh jee has made to HFM by compiling Hindi Film Geet Kosh!!!!

A similat effort is needed for Tamil Film songs.

With sincere regards,

Rajan

A similar effort is needed for Tamil Film songs.

Rajan..I couldnt express it more succinctly. Even telugu films need that kind of efforts..and the time is running out. sad.gif

When I heard the song, I could have sworn that the female voice is Jikki. I
was not sure about the male voice being AMR. But, I too read that the voices
are Shankar and Nithyakala - who-ever they are smile1.gif

There is a 1990 film called "Aavadhellaam peNNaale" with music by Shankar-Ganesh. But this film is not that one. This is obviously a film from the 50s or the 60s. So I trust HT's year of 1958. Don't know anything about this film at all.
