Read recently about iPod shuffle being available in India (costs somewhere between 8k-9k for 512 MB and 12k-13k for 1 GB).

I have always been a fan of Apple's innovative design. I was mesmerised when I first saw an iPod. But good design comes at a price.

With iPod shuffle, Apple has introduced what they call as random song playback. You load iPod shuffle with your playlist and it will play it in random order. Well, this is a nice feature if you love surprises...

Unlike iPod, iPod shuffle does not have a display screen. So your ID3 tags are of no use. I guess attacking the low-budget market is the main reason for doing away with LCD screen and introducing so called "random playback".

Compared to iPod shuffle, I would prefer to put my money on Creative's MuVo Micro N200 series. The advantages they offer against iPod shuffle are many...

1. Creative's player comes in 128,256,512,1GB model.
2. It comes with FM radio, FM recorder, Voice Recorder (None of these are present in iPod Shuffle).
3. Comes with a small LCD screen where you can view song details.
4. Plays WMA as well as MP3 (iPod shuffle plays only mp3)
5. If white is not your colour, it comes in many colour ranges

I guess Creative MuVo Micro N200 128 MB (around 6kI guess) and 256 MB (around 8.5K) are currently available in India and they are planning to launh 512 MB and 1 GB soon.

You can check out MSI as well, I've got MSI MegaStick (128 MB) and it is working nicely, has got all the features and the price is low.

Commenting on my on blog!!!

Yeah MSI too has a good review... There are many others too in this category of small MP3 players like RCA, RIO etc...

One more outstanding feature in Creative's MuVo micro is line-in recording!!! You can directly rip your tapes and CDs to mp3s (upto 128 kbps)... I guess this feature is generally present in large capacity players like iRiver etc...

Cheers,

I don't think any flash based players justify the price that they are sold at with a puny hard drive size, their small size notwithstanding.

I am planning to buy both the IPOD Shuffle (1GB, $149) as well as the IPOD (20 GB, $299). The IPOD Shuffle has an anti skip feature which is useful for me while jogging. The IPOD regular one freezes at times during running etc, but very handy while travelling. Apart from Creative's Muvo Micro N200, JetAudio iAudio G3 (1GB, Sky White)
seems to have additional features. It supports digital audio standards like ASF, OGG VORBIS apart from MP3,WMA,WAV.

My 2 cents.... Go for Creative's Muvo , during X'mas I got this (512mb version) for only $80 bucks with rebates and all crap from Cambridge Soundworks. It has excellent audio quality , screen flips for left or right handed... voice recorder is not that gr8 but recording from FM to MP3 is an awesome feature.....

I own IPOD 20gb and had Ipod shuffle , next day I returned it back.... its nothing gr8 than a flash drive which plays mp3.... too much pricey for not so gr8 feature device....
