Recently, Asha Bhonsle was awarded the Lata Mangeshkar Award in an elaborate ceremonial function, also attended by the Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and such celebrities. Asha happily chirped, "To me, the Lata Mangeshkar Award is more pecious than even Grammy’s."

And she gave the reasons why she thought so, " Lata di is not just my elder sister, she is like mother to me. Secondly, it is a happy coincidence that the award is being given to me on the birth centenary of my father, Master Dinanath Mangeshkar."
