Genetic inheritance is one boon for the many siblings born into a family. They come, they acquire, they conquer. And the world salutes them. Yes! This brings to our minds the legendary sisters Lata didi and Asha ji, their honourable spiritedness, and an ardent flavor for music.
But the world loves to compel peers into a tempting rivalry that only mutual wisdom and acceptance can stop. Recently, Asha Bhonsle was awarded the Lata Mangeshkar Award in an elaborate ceremonial function, also attended by the Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and such celebrities. Asha happily chirped, "To me, the Lata Mangeshkar Award is more pecious than even Grammy’s." And she gave the reasons why she thought so, " Lata di is not just my elder sister, she is like mother to me. Secondly, it is a happy coincidence that the award is being given to me on the birth centenary of my father, Master Dinanath Mangeshkar." The singer regaled the audience that included Noorjehan, Shamshad Begum, and the inimitable Lata Mangeshkar.
