Uploading a song sung by Jagjit Singh. The poet - Ramesh Parekh

This is also a feeble attempt in trying to transalate the song and bring out the essence of this song with a beautiful meaning...

First - the Gujarati words.

Antar na paane halve this
ankaya swar akshar
sur shabd na thaay hruday par
sahiyara swar akshar
eva aa hastakshar

Vatan tani maati na forum
bhinjavi deeti bheetar
phool phool ni olakh layi ne
khushboo vehti ghar ghar
samay bhale ne sari jaay pan
amar rahe swar akshar

eva aa hastakshar... eva aa hastakshar

Joy, sorrow, tears, lamentation, laughter — to all these music gives voice, but in such a way that we are transported from the world of unrest to a world of peace, and see reality in a new way, as if we were sitting by a mountain lake and contemplating hills and woods and clouds in the tranquil and fathomless water.

- Albert Schweitzer

Without music life would be a mistake
- Friedrich Nietzsche

Where words fail, music speaks
- Hans Christian Anderson

Music is spiritual. The music business is not

The english transliteration

On the pages of the heart
slowly etched
are notes and letters
Combined signatures
of words and tunes
are scripted on the soul
...these signatures

The heart is drenched
with the fragrance of the clay of motherland
The fragrance travels door to door
carrying the identity of each flower
The tunes and words - immortal
though times passes by
...these signatures

From one tiny whispered breath
emerges the melody of the flute
a single stroke of the brush
fills in the colours and the picture comes alive
If the voice becomes the prayer
then the song - Immortal
...these signatures
