Wow! What a collection! Thanks a lot Pradeep. I never heard the second song (Ketki Gulab...) It's such a beauty! Do you have a single MP3 of it so that I can play it when and how many times I wish to automatically? I don't know how to cut an audio. It would be grate if you could help on this too...

Thanks a lot Pradeep and Nimii. I was aghast when I heard this and found that it was from Basant Bahar, the cassette of which I had and this piece was missing in all! Can't think of anything more to show decent and acceptable disrepect to those who compile songs. My God! They dropeed BS Joshi's and Manna's classic for light(er) weight numbers!

Nevertheless, credit must be given where it is due. Can't agree more to those who (mostly distributors) backed faithfully Shakar Jaikishan against Naushad (who was originally chosen as MD). At times strange things DO happen, and the classical beauty from SJ continues to enthrall! Ooohhh, hum nashe mein hain.

Aahat, here is this lovely number from Basant Bahaar, Ketaki Gulaabi.

What an absolute stunner! I've heard Manna-da say that he was quite scared by the idea of singing along with Bhimsen Joshi, and that he was thinking of getting out of town! Then his wife seems to have restored his confidence in his own abilities. The tag says the movie came in 1956... it came as a surprise to me that Joshi sahab, even 50 years ago, had such a reputation that even someone as well trained as Manna-da was intimidated!

I suppose Krishna Rao Chonkar has sung two songs in this film, other one is
'Baat Chalat Nai Chunari Rang Daali'.

USRafian, as far as I know Ketaki Gulaabi Juhi is by Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and Manna Dey. The song you are referring to is from Rani Rupmati and not from Basant Bahaar.
