Lately the Windows updates are not getting installed. What do I need to do?

No. I have set the computer for automatic updates. I also see the updates getting downloaded, but I get an error that the updates are not installed. I wonder why. This was not happening till around a month ago

Thank you for the above links

I have tried doing all that I could witht he online windows support based on the error code that I get every time I try to install the updates. I seem to be getting stuck on 1 particular update (the error code is 80070643). I have also followed the trouble shooting steps that are available through Windows online support - no luck whatsoever sad.gif

Seems Windows Vista is yet to stabilize..lots of complaints about this error.
Found this online...I am a novice where vista is concerned..am comfy with Xp.. smile.gif

SF, Thank you smile1.gif
I did try all of that which you forwarded in the link
i.e,

Update type: Important
1. Click to open Administrative Tools.
2. Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. If the Office Source Engine service is disabled, double-click it to open the service properties.
4. Click the Startup type list, click Automatic (Delayed Start), and then click Apply.
5. Under Service status, click Start.

What is now left is to try out the the Vista error scan - let me do that too

Is there a way I can remove Vista totally and install XP??

There is..but quite laborious. As you need to move all your data files and then should uninstall Vista..and preferably format that drive and then have a disc of Windows XP and install it.. whew.. smile.gif
I recently upgraded my system and going by suggestions, i persisted with windows XP..instead of vista. Am glad for that. but Vista does have beautiful screens...

Thank you, Yogesh, for your offer

Let me first try to resolve this present problem. If that doesn't get sorted out, I will think of other options smile1.gif

Warm regards
Bhavita
