Sangeet ji -
This is amazing. Thanks for the great effort. It's really very helpful.
As a side note - I noticed a few errors in the 80s compilation in terms of singer names and would like to verify them with you as I might also have the wrong information.

QUOTE(Sangeet @ Apr 26 2009, 03:40 AM)
Aditya Ji, Are you going to post some corrections here?
Sangeet ji, I haven't gone through the entire datbase, but being a Lata song collector I noticed a few errors in Lata songs.
1) 1984-Haisiyat-Uttar Mein Dekhoon Tau-
Lata Mangeshkar Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar-Bappi Lahiri
2) 1984-Qaidi (1984)-Chandni Rat Ye Sanam-
Lata Mangeshkar Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar-Bappi Lahiri
3) The song Sir Pe Mukut appears against two films Dawedaar (1982) and Mera Karam Mera Dharam (1987). I am not sure if this is an error. Can anybody confirm if a) these are separate songs, or
they are the same song, but used in two films, or c) this is an error.
4) The same holds for Mera Maalik Mera Dil Hai, that is listed both for Paisa Ye Paisa (1985) and Gharwali Baharwali (1989). To the best of my knowledge, this song is from Paisa Ye paisa, and Gharwali Baharwali had no Lata song.
5) I think Kabrastan was a 1988 film, but it is listed on the 1990s-2000 database (under 1990)
6) There are 2 sets of entires for Alibaba Aur Chalis Chor (1980), Zakhmi Sher (1984), Zara Si Zindagi (1980 & 1982)
7) Libaas is an unreleased film, but its audio was released. I am not sure whether it was in 1988 or 1994, but it should appear in either the 80s list or the 90s
8) There is no song called Geet Sunoge by Lata in Patita (1980). A CD of the film included Geet Sunoge Huzoor from RRocky by Asha Bhosle. It was a mistake by the music company that released the CD.
9) Tumhe Apna Saathi from Pyar Jhukta Nahin (1986) is not a Lata-Shabbir duet. It is actually a Anuradha - Shabbir - Lata trio. It is actually a very interesting case - In the film version, Anuradha starts the song, then Shabbir takes over and fnally Lata ends it. I have never understood why two separate voices were used on the same actress (Padmini Kolhapure) in the same song. Possibly, the song was recorded by Anuradha, only to be later dubbed by Lata, but for some reason the opening lines were not dubbed by Lata (at least in the film version). Can anyone throw more light on this? Is the LP/CD version a pure Shabbir- Lata duet?
10) The female voice in Maro Bhar Bhar Ke Pichkari (Dhanwan, 1981) is Usha Mangeshkar, not Lata.
I will keep adding to this list as I find other errors.
I am looking at the 90s list as well, and will put the changes in the relevant post.

That's correct, but the Lata song composed by Uttam-Jagdish is from the 1988 film. This is listed as 1990 in the database.

A few corrections in this list:
1) Henna has two sets of entries - one for 1990 and another for 1991. The film was released in 1991
2) 3 Songs were released as part of the Lekin CD, but are actually non-film songs. These are: Dil Mein Leke Tumhari Yaad Chale, Mari Ri Main Neer Bharan, and Mohe Naihar Se.
3) Kabrastan is listed as 1990, but was a 1988 film
4) there are 3 separate entries for Maine Tujhe Khat Likha (Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai). This was a 1990 film, but it listed under 1991 (and one entry for Maine Tujhe Khat Likha at 1990)
5) Songs from Hu Tu Tu (1999) are not listed
6) The composer for Shauq Khwab Ka Hai (Jahan Tum le Chalo) is Vishal Bhardwaj. It is listed as Jackie Vanjari
7) Three Lata Mangeshkar songs from Jai Santoshi Maa (2006) were actually songs from her earlier non-film bhajan album called Jagrata. Those were composed by Surinder Kohli. So the composer for these Jai Santoshi Maa songs should be Surinder Kohli and not Anu Malik (they were actually taken straight from the Jagrata Album, so it wasn't also a case of Anu Malik re-recording the songs. I don't know why Anu Malik was credited as the MD of all the songs)
8. The composer for Jaane Thi Kaisi Raahon Mein (Strangers, 2007) was Vinay Tiwari (not Sachin Gupta). Sachin Gupta had composed only 2 songs in the album - Farishta Nahin Main and Yaad Aaye Wo Din.
9) the composer for Kanoon (1994) was Raamlaxman, not Laxmikant Pyarelal
10) The song listing for Chand Grahan (1997) need correction:
1997 - Chand Grahan - Aa Pyar Ki Bahon Mein - Asha Bhosle Lata Mangeshkar - Santosh Nair Jaidev
1997 - Chand Grahan - Main Janoo Nahin - Asha Bhosle Lata Mangeshkar - Santosh Nair Jaidev
1997 - Chand Grahan - Tujh Ko Yun Dekha Hai - Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh - Jaidev
1997 - Chand Grahan - Tumhi Ne Dil Ko Dil - Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh - Jaidev
Request other members to point out other changes, so that we can have the most accurate database.
Thanks and regards

Here are two minor corrections.
In Qaidi no. 36, all songs are entered as duets.
In Chand Grahan 1977 song 'tumhi ne' the female voice (humming near the end) is reported to Noor Jehan-3.

Thanks a bunch for all the ccorrections Aditya JI & Exon Bhai. The 2 versions are there for some because i have Tape, CD and Vinyl version for some of these albums so might have typed it twice
Speaking of Annu's credit in Jai Santhoshi Maa, Strangely he gets credit for other people's work at times. The Gentleman in 1996 or that Jhanjhariya song in Krishna which was composed by Anand Raj Anand but Annu took away the credit for the whole album.

Mera Malik is indeed from Paisa Y Paisa. It was a Bonus song in the Gharwali Baharwali Tape that i have mistagged.

Very nice effort Sangeetji, plzz see if you can make compilation of all the 70's songs of hindi films. Thanks in advance.
Posted by: bawlachintu Jun 3 2009, 02:28 AM
Very nice, good, excellent-these words are less.
I have spent hours, days and months to collect details.
So, the value of this small document is just like a
"Diamond of 350 carats" coming free to a music lover.
A list of few kilobytes in size is easily down within seconds.
What one forgets is the amount of labor, dedication, time and money
involved in compilation. It is priceless.
I have seen you sharing so many lists across the forum
without making any fuss. It is commendable.
Besides this, all of your lists are organized and are in very
good shape. This is the best effort on lists I have seen so far
in my life . Forget HFGK, which is joint effort of many persons.
For the last 2 years I am trying to create a master list of Lata's
songs and trying to tag the files. Tedious and Tiring exercise.
Jahan se shuru karo wapas wahin par. Back to square one position.
Just one query-did someone help you in creating it?

We will try to update. Most of the lists with me are with details of lyricist,
director of the film and artists' names. If 1 member can start with one MD, job wil be easy.
For example Sonu may provide all lyricist names of Sj's albums.
He has just chipkaoed an updated list in SJ forum.
RD Burman's details are available at panchamonline.com
which is a joint effort by RD fans.
First organized and detailed list on any MD is RD Burman's only
which is available easily on net in excel as well as html format.
Best way to work out is splitting excel MD wise into smaller parts.
After collation, corrections, addition and compilation we can combine
again to have final list.

I had no doubt about the tonal quality not belonging to 1987. I was just curious if a similar worded song, sung by the same singer was used in another film 5 years later. Moreover, some of the songs of Mera Karam mera Dharam were recorded much earlier (1978-80). It had a song by Rafi.

Updates on Lyrics
A R Rahman
One correction about Bhor Bhaye from Delhi-6. Gujri Todi has been erroneously mentioned as one of the singers, whereas it is the raag (Gurjari Todi) on which this bandish is based. Also, the credit to Prasoon Joshi for the lyrics is wrong because this is a traditional Bandish that was created by Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Saheb decades ago. It might be best to put the lyricist as "Traditional".
Also, Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna from Legend of Bhagat Singh should be credited to 'Bismil' instead of Sameer.
I am not sure but I think Ek Tu Hi Bharosa from Pukar was written by Javed Akhtar.

Aditya and Sangeet bhai, Tseries has marked it 'Majrooh Sultanpuri' on the cover, though several others sites have marked it as Majrooh and Javed Akhtar.
If anyone has the movie, maybe the credits will clear our doubts.

I just checked the original cassette (from venus). It says Majrooh Sultanpuri & Javed Akhtar as the lyricists, although it does not specify which song was written by whom.

3) The song Sir Pe Mukut appears against two films Dawedaar (1982) and Mera Karam Mera Dharam (1987). I am not sure if this is an error. Can anybody confirm if a) these are separate songs, or
they are the same song, but used in two films, or c) this is an error.
It is from Dawedar only, IMO. Listen to other songs by LP from 1982.
Jao ji jao-Desh premi and try to compare tonal quality.
Actually, Dawedaar and Mera Karam Mera Dharam are same films. Initially records were released as Dawedaar I think.

Hi
Dawedaar and Mera Karam Mera Dharam is the same film, the Original vinyl was released under the title Dawedaar in 1982 the film got shelved for a little while , then the movie and most of the tapes were released in 1987 under the title of Mera Karam Mera Dharam. The Mohd Rafi Track was, " apne dil mein josh hai"

According to Vishwas Nerurkar's book on Lata Mangeshkar, the EP of the 1978 film was released as "Asambhav", but the film was released as 'Kanoon Ka Shikar". It had music by Meena Mangeshkar. However, VN's book lists only 1 Lata song in the film i.e. Jaane Kahan Deke Dagha. Though the voice sounds very much like Lata's, Lage Na Kisi Ki Nazar was probably sung by Usha Mangeshkar. Can anyone with geet kosh confirm this? The first line of this song is: "Aaj Ka Ye Milan To Madhur Hai Milan, Is Milan Ko Lage Na Kisi Ki Nazar"

Hi Sangeet,
I am suggesting some corrections. I am not sure if they were pointed out in past. In case they were, please ignore them.
Aayi teri yaad is listed in 1981. HFGK says it's 1980 movie.
"Sau baar kaha yeh aankhon" from this movie is listed as Bhupendra solo. It is duet with Peenaz Masani.
1981 Fifty-fifty is duplicate entry
1982 Hathkadi is duplicate entry
As an when I notice others, I will post them.

Aditya
