Wow , just saw a topic on GR8 talat sahab. I love his voice , love all his movie songs , ghazals , non-filmi songs smile.gif

Please Please just like the main thread on Lata ji , Asha ji , Kishore ji , Mukesh Ji , I strongly request a whole topic forum for this great singer.

Oh my god , where do I start , I mean ek song se bhadkar dusra song, chahien solo ho ya duet, simply perfect.....but some of the songs when I listen to his , can never imagine anybody could have done justice to them..... Anssoo Samaj ke kyu mujhe ankh se gira diyaa....Sabkuch luta ke hosh mei aaye tau.....Aye mere Dil kahi aur chal....Aha rimzim ke pyare pyare geet liye aayi raat suhaani deep liye....

Sochta hu puri 200 songs ki list hi idhar as my fav paste kardu smile.gif

In short I am a big fan of him and just love to listen him , dream hai ki kaash kisi din , I would have listened every single song listed on his son's website dedicate to gr8 Talat Sahab smile.gif

Fans of Talat-sahab:

I obtained the CD of his live performances at Albert Hall announced in the site set up by his son.

Info about the CD is at:

http://www.talatmahmood.com/cd_offer.htm

Caution: It comes pricey!

I'll have to listen to the whole CD again, from beginning to end, since the jacket-sleeve does not provide a listing, and the recording is one single uninterrupted track.

But, thine will be done, and posted

Cheers!

Like Talat-sahab? REVERE kaho.

Just today I had thought of a subject to post, featuring Talat-sahab. But having inflicted myself already on the MAS guys today, I am invoking "flood-control"! But will post it shortly and also start U/Ls of the silken voice.

Sincererly appreciate the interest.

Cheers --- Unni

Thanks a lot for the list.

Anyway, would love to read your comments on the performance & over-all cd song quality & the atmosphere of the concert that you've been able to judge from the audience's applause, etc.

What I wanted to hear on this CD I was able to get: to hear Talat-sahab speaking! At the beginning of the concert he has an light-hearted exchange with members of the audience. And between songs he introduces the next song.

The quality of the CD is just fine. I would imagine that any audience that Talat-sahab attracted would have been a sophisticated one, and this one seemed to be no different. Of course, after each of his famous numbers, the audience responded with loud cheers.

I would not suggest that you rush to order the CD. Because in terms of the renditions of the songs themselves, let's remember this concert was held well after Talat-sahab at his prime. Also, Talat-sahab was not an artiste to extemporize or vary/deviate from the original. So, there is no "novelty" in the songs.

Since this CD is being currently marketed, that too by his son, I believe there is an ethics issue to contend with. Let some time pass, and we shall see.

Yes, it is a joy to hear him speak. I recall him speaking in the cd collection titled 'The Silken Voice'. But, I assume, you, of course have already had the pleasure of hearing those recordings.

I understand your comments regarding the sophisticated audience. Even so, the loud cheers implies that at least the sophisticated crowd wasn't snobby. I myself have been ambivalent about categorizing cheering or other such acts as unsophisticated specially under such conditions.

Of course, I'm not assuming or thinking of even comparing Talat sahab's LIVE performance with say, something by Mohammad Rafi. I do agree that the 'novelty' of these being LIVE recordings, as such, is more or less lost, when the listeners don't feel any excitement during the actual concert. Yet, somehow, I seem to think that this concert must've been important and fulfilling for those who attended it. And saw the legend in its entirety, with all the splendour & charm.

As for the ethics issue, I whole-heartedly concur.

I sincerely thank you for taking time out & putting your observations down.

Just amazing. A simple thanks does not suffice.

Though I might be busy with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab's qawwalis nowadays, but hearing something like this out of the blue, is unimaginable.

Love the ghazal. Simply beautiful.

Unni :

Thanks for above U/L.

I have uploaded Talat saab's interview :http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?showtopic=1668&st=30

You would be able to listen him speaking. I had a chance to attend his live concert and that was fantastic.

Shuklas
