Rameshji and Rajnish,

Thank you so much for the prompt uploads. Someone sent me all the files of the film, so I am going to check that out first and then download the ones I am missing or the different versions.

Rameshji,

I have not seen the film, I am very keen to see the film as it is one of the rare films that deals with communalism with some degree of authenticity. Yash Chopra is to be given credit for all the issues that he raises in his films even though sometimes his films get too glitzy and sometimes evade the very issues they raise. Dharamputra was his second movie, his first was Dhool Ka Phool, which deals with the issue of illegitimacy in Indian society. Bombay, e.g. where Mani Ratnam shows a Hindu-Muslim marriage for the first time making it the central theme of his movie, was a bold step, it does not really matter that the movie itself was ultra romantic and glamorous and even silly at times. Otherwise we will continue to get wishy washy formulas like Amar Akbar Anthony where Amar inevitably falls for Laxmi, Akbar falls for Salma and Anthony falls for Jenny. (Mind you this is despite the movie being one of the best entertainers of its time, and the fact that I absolutely love everything about the movie including those awesome pairs and would not want anything changed in it biggrin.gif ) The nod to communalism was through the mother whose three sons have been brought up with different religious identities. But I do wonder what would have happened if the pairs had criss crossed...

I have a VHS copy but the quality is not so good. Been looking for a DVD. I feel in Dharamputra he dealt
with the issue very well. It deals with communalism during the independence/partition period. It is a movie
well worth watching any time.
