The song I'm looking for is a rare version of an otherwise popular song. The version of 'Sakhi Ri Sun Bole Papiha Us Paar' from 'Miss Mary' (1957) that I have, has just one antraa. Now IIRC, I remember reading somewhere that another version of the song was released, with two antraas. Many sites list the lyrics of the second antraa as something like..."bairi aisi dhun mein bole". This version however misses all the taankaari(?). Anyone having this version of the song is requested to please upload it here. Thanks in advance. Regards, Saksham Saksham, it's been a while since you put this request and I'm not sure if you've got this song, but I just discovered that I had the song in my collection. Today I decided to dust-off my old audio cassette collection, and found this version in an HMV compilation. I will digitize it shortly and upload it. Aditya Here is the second version of Sakhi Ri Sun Bole. It does have an extra stanza, but the duration is the same. It seems to me that this version has become a victim of the infamous HMV-style random editing of songs in compilations. This is very obvious in the first interlude when the sisters are singing the sargam and there's an abrupt jump, and then again in the first stanza where the delightful repitition of the first line by Lata is gotten rid of in the second version. Maybe, Hemant Kumar did cut down on line repititions and variations in the second version, but to me it seems more of HMVs doing. Anyway, this version is worth keeping just for the additional stanza which is quite rare. Aditya My Blog - http://urgetofly.blogspirit.com

My heartiest ‘aplam-chaplam’ to this thread.
It is (better to say ‘was’ , as nowadays there is TOTAL scarcity of sweet songs) always a mouth-watering for me to hear Lata’s duet with any female singer. I treat it something ‘Special’. After seeing Aditya’s list, uploading two (from pending songs), both are among my ‘TOP-10’ list of Lata’s duet with female singers: - Aji chale Aao - Halaku (Shanker Jaikishen) 128 kbps 04:31 min Dilll Daii Daii, O Na.a.a.a Naii Naii. - Senapati (Madan Mohan) 128 kbps 04:16 min AND one from myside... Qawwaali-Maestro Roshan Sahab's composition from Chandini Chowk (1954) – 160 kbps 05:41 min Lata Asha Shamshad & ??? Har Baat Puuchhiye, Ye Haqiqat Na Puuchhiye, Ham Ko Kisi Se Kyun Hai Muhabbat, Na Puuchhiye USR Dil Shaad Tha Ke Phool Khilenge Bahaar Mein

I've come to this forum after more than a month and, I must admit that I had completely forgotten about my request ! On another thread, Exon had told me about the compilation you (seemingly) took the song from. I even started out, looking for the 2-cassette set at music stores, but gave up after few failed attempts. Thanks a lot for remembering my request, for digging out old cassettes, for taking the pain to digitalize the song and finally uploading it here for us. Thank you so very much. Sincere regards, Saksham This post has been edited by Saki: Mar 27 2009, 08:15 PM |

I think I bought it around 16-17 years back (when you were probably still a toddler ) Aditya My Blog - http://urgetofly.blogspirit.com
