Basant (1942)

Uploading songs of this movie in varying quality on request of Faraaj ji. This movie starred Suresh, Mumtaz Shanti (heroine of Kismat), Ulhas and Pramila. Madhubala acted as a child artist in the movie (credited as Baby Mumtaz).

The songs seem to have mostly been sung by Arun and Parul Ghosh (I am not so sure of credits though).
The music of the film was by Pannalal Ghosh who incidentally was husband of Parul Ghosh and brother-in-law of Anil Biswas. He was one of the most popular flute artists of the 20th century.

This is one of the last movies of O.P. Nayyar released in 1992.

The songs of the movie were uploaded earlier by Erum ji and mahesh ji has reuploaded them recently here.

Yesterday, on my request a friend (who is big fan of OP and knew him) has shared songs of the movie in CDQ with me. They appear to be from the first cut of the music (one-two-three is heard in some songs). I am uploading these as well since they are extended version of the songs including extra song and in good quality as well.

It may be noted that the songs of this movie were reused tunes of O.P. Nayyar's telugu movie Neerajanam for which he got an award as well. The movie was a flop is a different story but the songs are very good.

I'm hearing the songs right now. Apart from the really good audio, there are a few songs in Basant which I heard a lot 20 years ago but never heard them again and forgot them. Flute players have a great sense of music other than control on breath! Hari Prasad Chaurasiya also gave good music in some films with Pt Sharma as Shiv-Hari Combination.
