Hi friends,
I am starting this new topic from today and the theme will be "For the first time". Following is the qualificaion criteria. 1. First performances of singers (solo or duet) e.g. 1st solo song of Lata, 1st duet of Lata-Mukesh, 1st Gujrathi song of Geeta, 1st song of Kishore with S D Burman, etc. 2. First performances of music directors (Upload all songs of their 1st movie if possible) 3. First performances of lyricists 4. Others combinations like Rafi's first song for Dilip Kumar, first duet of Amitabh-Rekha, etc.. Above examples were to give an idea about what we are going to have in this post. I will keep on updating the post as and when I get time. Those who want to contribute to this post are most welcome. Viraj |

Kishore Kumar's first song in video and audio. Marne Ki Duaaon Kyon [First Song] - Kishore Kumar - Ziddi (1948) - Khemchand Prakash - Prem Dhawan - 3:13 - 128 kbps Interesting topic Viraj. I have two questions: 1- In the case of Kishore, well before 1948 he recorded two non-filmi songs for Ramesh Gupta - Bhoolne Wale and Jis Dil Ne Mohabbat Ki Usko. The Ziddi solo is his 1st filmi song. So does this topic exclude non-filmi? 2- Saigal's 1st available recording is Jhula Na Jhulao. But he certainly recorded several songs before this that are sadly lost to posterity. So does Jhula Na Jhulao count as his 1st song as a proxy? This post has been edited by Faraaj73: Sep 18 2010, 04:26 AM Kind Regards Faraaj Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. - Victor Hugo There is only one better thing than music - live music. - Jacek Bukowski I hate music, especially when it's played. - Jimmy Durante No good opera plot can be sensible, for people do not sing when they are feeling sensible. - W. That will spread the horizon of the topic and we will get more interesting information as well as songs. I have Saigal's song and have uploaded it here. In case you have Kishore's songs, please upload (both of them if possible). Viraj This post has been edited by Viraj Padhye: Sep 18 2010, 09:31 AM |

Viraj,
This is an interesting topic with a lot of (inquisitive) potential. It will be interesting to see how it will evolve in the course of time. In my next post here I will upload songs of LP's first released album. It is a documented fact that LP did compose music for few B grade movies before 1963 all of which were shelved because of the financial constraints. The first movie released under LP's music direction was "Parasmani". This was in 1963. Technically it may not be their first, but because the others preceding "Parasmani" never saw the daylight, by defalut "Paras" is their "first" movie. Songs in the next post ... Cheers, Swarapriya |

Parasmani (1963)
This was LP's first released album. LP, who have to struggle early in their lives, were lucky to find a mentor in Lata Mangeshkar. On her recommendation, they were employed assisting almost all of yester year music directors except for O.P. Nayyar and Shankar & Jaikishan. They later worked as assistant music directors in Kalyanj & Anandji. This association of working with different music directors gave LP enormous exposure to all types of music and gave them professional edge. After their first movie "Parasmani" was released and became a sensational musical hit, their careers never looked back. They maintained the strong hold of their position as the premier music directors for almost 25 years. They composed music for nearly 500 films. Lataji sang 800 sonsg for them, most for one music director. Rafi Saab and Kishoreda were other singers who had the benefit of singing several hits under them. Interestingly, Kishoreda sang most songs for LP, about 500, and not RD as I was under the impression. Here are the songs of "Parasmani" where every song is oozing with melody. Since LP gave this music at least two generations have come and gone. Yet the songs from this album still have the same sweetness they delivered when they were heard for the first time. I am also including a special of the song "Woh Jab Yaad Aaye" with Lata's introduction. She gives a glowing tribute to Rafi Saab. Now for the songs ... Attached image(s) |

You can come up with your own combinations of "First ones" and then the horizon gets spreading. You see no boundaries. Beauty will be everybody will be able to contribute. With all my friends and contributors on this forum like you, I am sure we are going to get a lot of new information in addition to songs. Viraj |
