Shyam Sunder was an ace composer of the late-40's early 50's. I’m uploading some of the songs of this forgotten talent that I have in good bit-rate and request other HF Members to add any good songs of his that I haven't been able to. These songs give a good measure of what a great talent he was.
A fair few of the songs originated from senior HF Members. His filmography consists of films like: Nai Kahani (1943) Bhai (1944) Bhai Jaan (1945) Village Girl (1945) Dev Kanya (1946) Aarsi (1947) Actress (1948) Char Din (1949) Bazaar (1949) Lahore (1949) Bhai Behen (1950) Kamal Ke Phool (1950) Nirdosh (1950) Dholak (1951) Alif Laila (1953) Ek Roz (????) Kaale Badal (????) NB: The above list may be incomplete or have some discrepancies. I haven’t been able to get any bio-data on him on the internet. If any member can provide some information about him, that would be great! Bumping this thread up in the hopes of getting some more Shyam Sunder classic compositions of the 40s. I see a handful of the songs I uploaded a few months back are still available. Subsequent to my post, Romesh Saab uploaded the albums of Bazaar and Alif Laila - no attachments remaining:
Bazaar (1949) http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=551777 Alif Laila (1953) http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=551940 Additionally, Mahesh Saab uploaded a wonderful Shamshad solo from Bhai Bahen (1950) today: http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=564881 Any more contributions are appreciated. Kind Regards Faraaj p.s. I was recently pleasantly surprised to find out that Shyam Sunder was from my home town in the good old pre-'47 days! Kind Regards Faraaj Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. - Victor Hugo There is only one better thing than music - live music. - Jacek Bukowski I hate music, especially when it's played. - Jimmy Durante No good opera plot can be sensible, for people do not sing when they are feeling sensible. - W. Kind Regards Faraaj Noor Jahan did not record her four solos from Bhaijaan. Instead those were recorded by Zeenat Begum. The source of NJ's solos is the movie itself. The movie was shown by DD in early 80s when NJ was there in India on a visit. -urzung khan |

hi + hi + hi
he + he + he Zeenat Begum could not do justice to the tunes. Noorjehan sang them beautifully. I think the pace of the songs and tunes on records were different from those used in the movie. When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others
