ohmy.gif What a novel idea, indeed! Obtain original files of 128kbps from one thread, convert them to 192kbps and upload 'em again! These files are still present in Shankar-Jaikishan's fora.

http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?showtopic=62204

Swarpriyaji, I fail to understand what was the need of encoding these files on higher bit? Does it make a huge (noticeable) difference to the quality? If so, please tell me the trick. If not, I request you to leave the original file as it is to show some respect to the original uploader! I wonder this is just a way of increasing the upload to download ratio (even though you are already an angel)?

PS: these files (longer versions) were originally uploaded by me!

Hi Anupamaji:

The songs downloaded from CDs are generally 192kbps, therefore they might not have been converted but rather downloaded straight from a CD.

Akbaralibhai, I remember you requesting me for the songs of College Girl 1960 and I uploaded 'em (film versions) upon your request. Are you telling me the extended versions are from the CD? I have both the versions and can very well tell the difference between the two. And moreover, Swarpriyaji has admitted to uploading those extended versions that she downloaded from HF itself. You even downloaded Swarpriyaji's files. You have both versions (Swarpriyaji's & mine) so you be the judge. They are of the same length. What a co-incidence!

College Girl (1960)

Shammi and Shankar & Jaikishan are back together. The music duo who were experimenting with who should be the singing voice for Shammi, finally settled down with Rafi Saab. The team of Shammi-Rafi-Shankar-Jaikishan will churn out awsome hits in the years to come.

There are eight songs in this movie. I am uploading seven of them here. I am missing one song. This is shown in red italics below. Requesting the Forum membership to share this song if they have it. I am also uploading four extended versions of the songs. These are courtesy of the Forum members.
Now for details of the songs and the songs themsleves ...

Anupama ji,

You may be right about some of the songs I may have been used from your uploads. If I am looking for my ratio to go up, I don't need to do it. I generally acknowledge that these are from the forum members. If I haven't done that, it probably is my oversight. I am not here to take away any of your credit. It seems like I have indevertently touched some of your nerves to got you upset so much. If I have done this, apparently I did per the tone of your message, please accept my apologies. I do have a huge music library and it is a fact that I have over 70% of Shankar & Jaikishan's albums in CDs and nearly 95% of their songs fom various sources.

I like 192 Kb/s bit rate because it is my personal preference but I am not trying to prove anything one way or another. Again, sorry to have hurt your feelings, even unintentioally.

Swarapriya

Anupama Ji: Yes, you are absolutely right, I originally requested the songs but I am sorry for the confusion as I did not mean to include the extended versions, which were originally uploaded by you. I was pointing to the other songs contained in the CD (manufactured) and directly uploaded from them @ 192. I do not believe the original CD has extended versions. I should have clarified this. Sorry for the confusion again.

Apology accepted!
But it seems like you have missed the point here. It was not about hurting my feelings or touching my raw nerve or even uploading/using my files. Did I mention anything about you taking credit for my work? You didn't as you clearly stated that the files were courtesy of the forum members. So it's not about taking away any of mine or anybody's credit. I simply asked you what was the point of unnecessarily encoding the original file of 128kbps to a higher bitrate (just for the heck of following the pattern of 192kbps or personal choice) if it didn't make any difference to the quality, be it my uploads or somebody else's. This might affect the ratio of those who are not angels.
I understand it would be a different matter if they were your original uploads but if I've or someone else has uploaded a file, at whatever bitrate, I request you to leave the file as it is if you choose to further upload it on your thread.
If the file has been treated/edited to remove the hiss/noise or enhance the vocals then I should download it too with gratitude. But this was not the case here.
Nothing more from my side on this!
See you around!
Cheers,
Anu

QUOTE(swarapriya @ Aug 1 2008, 08:02 PM) *

Jeevan Jyoti (1953)

Shammi made his movie acting debut with another movie made in 1953 called "Thokar". But this movie also was made in the same year. It has music by Burmanda. It was directed by Mahesh Kaul, who was renowned as a brilliant director. The leading lady for this movie was Chand Usmani who was runnerup in a talent and beauty contest (winner was Peace Kanwal). Chand Usmani also is a sister of the great actress Meena Kumari. Pairing with new leading ladies started for Shammi right from the beginning.

Another feature is that Shammi sang a song (a duet) in this movie. Burmanda had Shammi's older brother, the famous Raj Kapoor sing also in "Dil Ki Rani (1947)". I don't know how many other movies of Shammi Burmanda composed music for. Probably not too many.

There are supposed to be 13 songs in this movie. I am able to upload only two of them. Please share with us if you have any missing ones. The missing songs are shown in red italics in the table below.

Now for details of the songs ...

Swarapriya,

Good luck to this nice thread.
I am uploading most missing songs of Jeevan Jyoti. There is still one missing song, film version of 'chhaayi kaari badariyaa bairaniyaa ho raam'

Most of these song audios originated from HF members. Therefore, all credits go to them.

One song, 'Man Sheetal, Naina Soofal' was written by Pandit Narendra Sharma. All other songs written by Sahir Ludhianvi.

Exonji,

Thanks for uploading the Asha-Shammi song. Heard it for the first time.

It reminds me of Dil Pukare Aare Aare duet of Rafi and Lata from Jewel Thief. The tunes sound similar.

Thanks a lot.

Rajan

P.s. I listened this song for the second time now. Initially during slow alap, I remembered Nanhi Kali Sone chali. Then for a short time I felt I was getting a hint of Tum Na Jaane Kis Jahan mein. Then a line reminded of Jewel Thief number. - Rajan
