(Waheeda) Singhasan (1986)
Telugu film actor Krishna made many Hindi films under his home banner Padmalaya. His formula was simple. Take a successful Telugu film and remake it in Hindi. But this time he decided to make a movie both in Telugu and Hindi simultaneously. Most of the actors in "Singhasan" in Hindi and "Simhasanam" in Telugu were the same except Hindi film starred Jeetendra whereas Telugu film starred Krishna himself. Krishna also wrote the story of the film and directed it as well. I will upload songs from the Telugu film immediately following the Hindi songs right in this directory. There are seven songs in this film and most of them are very long. Interestingly for a costume drama, Bappi Lahiri uses his own brand of hip music. Susheela, a great singer from South, sang two duets in the Hindi film. I am uploading songs from this film in two back-to-back posts. Here are the songs in the first post... Attached image(s) |

(Zeenat) Gawahi (1989)
The distinguishing feature of this film is that two notable directors are also principal actors in it. Ashutosh Gowariker (see his picture below) made several notable films including the Oscar nominated “Lagaan (2001)”, “Swades (2004)”, and “Jodhaa Akbar (2008)”. The other prominent director who acted in this film is Shekhar Kapur (see his picture below). He made films like “Masoom (1983)”, “Mr. India (1987)”, and “Bandit Queen (1994)”. He also made the English film “Elizabeth” in 1998 that was refused by Censors (Asha Parekh, the censor chief at that time had a feud with Kapur on this) for exhibition in India. It was nominated for multiple Oscars. Later he made a sequel to this in 2007, “Elizabeth: The Golden Age”. Here are the songs from this album...
