You are welcome, Anupama
Here are two songs from the movie Dharmatma(1975). Firoz Khan used Kalyanji Anandji consistently for more than ten years( Apradh, Dharmatma, Qurbani and Jaanbaaz). They specifically geared their music to suit FKhan's interest in middle-eastern music and the results were some superb albums. Firoz Khan's answer to Godfather, here is our desi Michael Corleoni with his Greek... sorry gypsy wife Hema Malini... Attached image(s) "This isn't right, this isn't even wrong." Now for Kay Corleoni and Michael
For a newcomer, Kanchan rendered the songs very well, unfortunately she could not survive in the industry, the only other song of hers that I recollect is "Aye Zamane" from Rafoo Chakker in the same year once again under Kalyanji-Anandji. It looks like some of these newcomers were given songs only by the MD's who promoted them (Sharda-SJ is another such pair). Kanchan also sang in Qurbani, Kalicharan, Atithi and Vidhata, all with music by KA. |

Firoz Khan's answer to Godfather, here is our desi Michael Corleoni with his Greek... sorry gypsy wife Hema Malini... I thought that the character Michael Corleone falls for is Sicilian (name Apollonia), not Greek. You are abs right... that was a bad faux pas... "This isn't right, this isn't even wrong." Actually, that was a (not so bad) faux pas... Apollonia was described as more Greek looking than Italian in the book (if memory serves right).

Aah thanks Zippo, I thougt I had the Godfather fans screaming vendetta... Now for the three versions of Faraar, a movie starring Sharmila Tagore and Amitabh Bachchan. Unlike the other more hyped Kalyanji-Anandji Amitabh combinations, this one is much more low key and IMO, melodious. Here is the Lata solo version of the lovely song.
