I'm wondering if anyone has the songs to the old Sassi Punnu with the following
Rafi song: Lagi Wale Te Kade Nahiyon Saunde Ni Teri Keevay Ankh Laghgayee

Dachi Waliya Mod Muhar Ve
Jad Mukhda Dekha Yaar Da

I believe Ravi was the composer. I was hoping it would show up in the iTunes music store but it hasn't, plus I'm not sure which label the original was on.

On most of the www I'm known as johnnylubber (being a Johnny Depp and Pirates of the Caribbean fan) so I thought I would choose a corresponding name. smile1.gif So that's sort of off-topic really. But I can make a connection to hindi songs, sort of. JD will be in a movie his production company bought the rights to recently called Shantaram based on the book written by Australian Writer/Ex-con Gregory David Roberts (who is also penning the screen play). This book, although quite long, was an excellent read as it takes place in Mumbai mostly in the 80s and we sort of see the introduction of Mumbai Mafia to Bollywood. (The book is auto-biographical and the author has even had bit roles in a few bollywood films from Big B's golden era). Several hindi songs are alluded to in it including "Yeh Duniya Yeh Mehfil" and the Big B is quoted a few times. I cannot wait to see this fillm and am hoping some of our fine Bollywood actors will be cast in it as most of the characters are indeed, Indian.

The last time I tried to join a Hindi songs Yahoo group, the one link I clicked on led straight to a virus. I had given up and not searched further until I found this place quite by accident. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be here. And also quite thrilled to discover the recent addition of the SaReGaMa catalog to the iTunes music store - now if they would only add the Universal/Music India/Polygram one -that would be fantastic.

I had lost my entire collection of CDs and cassettes about 12 years back in a fire, and have slowly been rebuilding since then. Some 80s gaane are lost forever I fear as the labels are no longer in business. But this place has given me new hope. A huge thanks to the folks that created it and maintain it. And a big thanks to you for these songs. smile1.gif
