i have a rafi punjabi song in BEMISAAL cassette
it has the song pagdhi sambhaal jatta, pagdhi sambhaal oye
it was different than the song i downloaded here called pagdhi sambhal

Sharad bhai there are 2 versions of Pagri sambhal jata

film ~ Pagri sambhal jata
film ~ Sardar bhagat singh

both i got................but u/l yours too as it could be better quality or is there a 3 rd version.

The story of SHAHEED UDHAM SINGH

The first time i heard this song was a cover version by a bhangra band
When i found out the hard work behind the song was by P S Nirola [the song writer] and Sardul Kwatra [music] and in the voice of MOHD RAFI.....................i searched and searched for it in Rafi's voice.

If this is at all the right film, then this brings back memories. The qawaali: "Husun-e-Magroor Ne Palkon Ko Jhuka Rakha" is this from the same "SARFAROSH"?
There are few films going off the same name... I know, I got the wrong one both times.

Anyway like I say, memories, A dear member at Yahoo once requested this. The qawaali sounds promising so I did ask around for this without ever really getting anywhere...

I'm just glad i got hold of the vinyl in the great and original voice of Mohd Rafi

no disrespect to those bhangra bands who ripped it off...............you too are great for singing it..............................but please atleast have the courage to write on your albums who wrote the songs originally and the music director and that great voice of Mohd Rafi when he rendered it so beautifully.

There are so many examples of this!

One that sticks in mind is Nach Nach Nach Kuriye by Apna Sangeet which has the same tune as Gadi Jaandi Ai Chalaanga Mardi from the Hindi film Daada. However, I've heard from some Punjabi friends, that many songs in Punjabi films are based on folk songs anyway.
