Love and Murder (1966)
This movie really does not have much to do with love. It is just murder and more murders. In the process it also successfully murders viewer as well. The story was inspired by several English films, the most notable being the classic hit “Charade” made in 1963 with some of the Bond stuff thrown into the mixture. OP borrows for some scenes background music from the 1962 “Dr. No”. His score for songs does not help much with the proceedings even though couple of songs are decent, the most notable being Rafi Saab’s “Tere Gesuon”. Here is this and other songs from this film… Attached image(s) |

Mai Baap (1957)
M. Sadiq (later of Guru Dutt’s classic “Chaudhvin ka Chand (1961)” fame) directed this film from his own story and the screenplay. In an unusual casting he had Johnny Walker playing a baddie in the film. Even though Shyama and Balraj Sahni have the top billing, it was all Johnny. He did an overall good job as a bad guy but too much of him in the film finally gets to be too much. OP does his usual thing in the music department. There are only six songs but most of them are okay. My favorite of the album is Asha’s song “Gaalon Pe Tere”. Here is this and other songs from this film… This post has been edited by swarapriya: Mar 10 2015, 08:19 PM Attached image(s) |

I am not sure for which song he wrote the lyrics. Please let me know if you have the information. Thanks. OP does his usual thing in the music department. Nasihat (1967)
I am uploading these songs on request... This movie had the mighty Dara Singh playing a dual role, one good and the other bad. Singh Saab did his usual stuff by besting all the baddies. On the top of this, he found time for romancing. He also sang a song (Mahendra’s voice of course). By the way, Dara’s love interest was a diminutive lady from the South, Rajashree. She earlier appeared, in 1966, opposite Shashi Kapoor in the popular film “Pyar Kiye Jaa”. She appeared in over 200 films in Telugu and Tamil. The pairing of her with Dara was interesting (but not strange, recall the famous team of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri) as Dara was over 6 feet tall whereas Rajashree is hardly 5 feet. OP at the helm of music did his usual stuff. He came up with some good songs including “Aankhon”, “Teri”, and “Zara”. He was assisted by G.S. Kohli. Here are these and other songs from this film… Attached image(s) |

Naya Andaz (1956)
This movie came before Asha became OP’s regular and favorite. All but one song by females was done by Shamshad Begum. And Begum Saab was simply superb. And there was Kishoreda. Together or separately they sang most of the songs. The movie became popular thanks to the beautiful songs composed by OP. OP’s assistant was G.S. Kohli. The song of the album is “Meri Neendon Mein”. Beautifully composed, meaningfully written, it was sung stirringly by Shamshadji and Kishoreda. It appeared twice in the film, each with different verbiage. Both versions are simply superb. The songs “Chana Jor Garram”, “Chooko Thandiya”, and “Sainyyaan Raaja” appeared in the movie in quick succession only interrupted by running train music. Most albums publish these three as one song or the first two as one song. Because they are separate, I am uploading them as three separate songs. Here are these and other songs from this film in two back-to-back posts. The first set of songs follows… Attached image(s) |
