Concluding Songs from "Dooj ka Chaand (1975)" ... Here are some of the extended version songs from this album. Please be warned that the quality of Rafi Saab's both sols are a tad below average. With that caution, here are the songs ... Hi SP, There is a typo in the title. It should be 1964 instead of 1975. Viraj |

(Rajendra) Hamrahi (1963)
This was another huge hit from the great L.V. Prasad who made massive contributions to Indian cinema. This movie was a remake of the Telugu hit "Bharya Bhartalu (1961)". I will upload songs from this film in this section immediately following these posts. Every song in this film was a huge hit and there are several beautiful ones in this album. One of my favorites of Lata, "Mann Re", is in this album. So is the beautiful duet by Mubarak Begum and Rafi Saab, "Mujh Ko". Rafi Saab has four solos. Two of my favorites of these are "Woh Chale" and "Ye Aansoo". I will upload these in three back-to-back posts. The first two posts contain all of the songs from an original soundtrack album. The third post contains several extended version songs. Now for details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ... (Sunil) Yaadein (1964)
This was a history making movie when it was released. It was the first ever movie with only a single actor. Sunil himself portrayed the hero besides producing and directing it. Nargis' silhouette apears near the end of the movie, otherwise it was a one-actor movie. Apart from Sunil and that brief appearance of the shadow there is no one else in the movie. The film as an experiment was a great success. It received rave reviews but audience found the movie too depressing, therefore rejected it outright. The innovative approach of the film did win a couple of technical Filmfare awards. I am not certain how many songs this film has. I have one that I am uploading here and the one missing song is shown in red italics in the table below. There probably are more. I am requesting members to share the missing song if they can. Thank you ... Now for the one song I have ... Attached image(s) |

(Dharmendra) Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi (1967)
Guru Dutt started this movie in late 1963. The film’s inspiration was a 1937 Saigal starrer “President”. That movie was also known by various other titles including “Badi Bahen” and “Didi”. That classic film was directed by Nitin Bose for New Theatres. For “Baharen” Guru Dutt cast himself in the role of the leading man to the sisters played by Mala Sinha and Tanuja. O.P. Nayyar was back with Guru providing some of the great music for the film. It was reported in a magazine that after recording the song “Aap Ke Haseen Rukh Pe”, Guru was so overwhelmed by the song and the music that he went and hugged OP and told him that OP composes feelings not words. Incidentally, the movie was directed by Sahid Lateef but apparently the above song and other songs as well were picturized by Guru. While the shooting of the movie was making brisk progress, Guru passed away. He was eventually replaced by Dharmendra. For the above song, shots where Guru was present, were reshot with Dharmendra. In an interview this is what Tanuja, who was signed to play one of the sisters way back in 1962, has to say about Guru. She felt that during those years when they started the movie, she was not a dedicated actress. Guru apparently wasn’t happy with the situation and used to call up her mother Shobhana Samarth and used to tell her to instill some discipline in Tanuja. Tanuja also states that Guru was great to work with and at least they both had a common trait, both loved to read. The movie didn’t do well after it was released. But the music and the songs from the film endured. Every one of the song which have OP’s unmistakable stamp became major hits. But the song of the movie is, one of my all-time favorites of Rafi Saab, the solo “Aap Ke Haseen Rukh Pe”. It is just a smashing beauty. The lyrics, the picturization of the song, the light and shade effects the photography brings as subtleties to show the feelings of the sisters, with both Tanuja and Mala looking dazzling, and Dharmendra at his debonairly dashing best, is only topped by how Rafi Saab elevates this song to one of the greatest songs ever experienced in an Indian cinema. I am uploading all the songs from an original soundtrack album below. Here is a description of the songs and the songs themselves … Attached image(s) |
