Concluding Songs from "Aah (1953)" ...
I am including in this post rest of the songs from the original CD, an extended version song by the courtesy of the Forum members, and a special version of "Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat". Please be warned that the quality of the extended version song, "Jhana Jhana", is very poor. The special version of "Raja" had a nice introduction both by Lata and Raj Kapoor. Now for the details of the songs in this post and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) |

Prema Lekhalu (1953) - A Telugu Film
This movie is Raj Kapoor's "Aah" dubbed in Telugu. Like the Hindi version, this Telugu version also didn't work. I think the Telugu version was released with the revised ending. All songs in Telugu were a rage. They were written by Arudra, an up and coming writer during that time. Arudra was a nephew of the great Telugu poet and writer Sri Sri. Many wrongfully thought at that time that it was Sri Sri who wrote the songs so that Arudra can gain a foothold in the industry. But subsequent events proved this to be wrong. Arudra became a recognized writer on his own merits. Besides Sri Sri was not much of a romantic writer even though he wrote a few memorable ones. Some say that Raj got this idea to dub this movie into Telugu from Shankar, one of the music directors of the movie. Shankar, born in Punjab, was raised in Hyderabad. He spoke good Telugu. Raj apparently liked the idea and had the movie dubbed and released in Telugu. (He also released a dubbed version in Tamil as well.) Here is an interesting side note from one of our fellow member simplefable. He informs that once Raj was vacationing near Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. He fell in love with the beautiful Paapi Kondalu (Paapi mountain range) and the picturesque outage surrounding the river Godavari. He decided to shoot one of his movies there. Not sure whether he ever did or not. Most of these songs are from an MP3 album. Interestingly, all Telugu songs are of shorter duration than their original Hindi counterparts. The Telugu film is a dubbed version of the Hindi film. So it is difficult to explain why this is the case. I am uploading these songs in back-to-back two posts. I have also given for each Telugu song the original Hindi version with time durations for reference. Now for details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) |

(Meena) Naya Andaz (1956)
This 1956 album is a real beauty from OP. Every song from this album is an utter delight. Asha is still a few movies away from becoming OP's choice singer but in this Shamshad and Kishore take the center stage. They make the most of the opportunity by singing some delightful solos and duets. Rafi Saab also joins the fray by singing few songs. It appears like OP used only few instruments in these songs with harmonium dominating majority of the compositions because the story of the film demanded it. In OP's music direction, this instrument provides some awsome music. I am uploading all the songs from this album in three back-to-back posts. The first two posts contain all the songs from the movie from an original soundtrack album. The third post contains several extended version songs. Now for the details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) |

(Madhubala) Ek Saal (1957) Here is another winner from Ravi. Most songs are by the courtesy of the Forum members. Thank you ... My lata catalogue says there is a lata solo "Chup chup ke chal" from Ek saal. Am I right? Khawar Hi Khawar, You are spot on. But the wording is slightly different, its "Chun Chhun chali piya ki gali". This song completes the album. Viraj |
