Hi Anupamaji
While indexing the letter e (i.e. cross comparing the myawaan list with your master list) I found “Din Pyaar ke” a Rafi Sahab/Geeta Dutt(possibly) duet from Ek Ke Baad Ek. The video stills look to be from the same movie in my YT download. This is missing from your master list. Chandni raat mein yun dil ko is from “Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati” which has got into “Ek Musafir Ek Haseena” I think. Can you or someone else re-confirm the lyricist of “Dil ka soona Saaj” from “Ek Nari Do Roop”. Asad Bhopali seems to be spot on, but I’ve seen a different lyricist at some other site. I’m finicky about this, as the song seems to have been penned for Rafi Sahab. Incidentally, the MD, Ganesh is Ganesh Sharma, the younger brother of Pyarelal Sharma of LP fame. (I was told this by one of the regular YT uploaders, vintagememories) There is one duet missing from missing “Ek Sapera Ek Lutera”. The details are Song : “Aate Jaate roke mujhe (title song) Singers : Rafi Sahab and Suman Kalyanpur Lyrics : Asad Bhopali, Music Director : Usha Khanna Duration : 6.10 min, Source YT, MP3 bitrate 128 Since am pukka about the details, and it is relatively rare compared to the other numbers of the film, am taking the liberty to upload it. Am thru with E, will take up F tomorrow Thanks and Regards Swaminathan |

Anupama Ji,
Congratulations on this gigantic exercise!! You deserve the highest appreciation. You have arrived at the figure of about 4700 songs. Am I right? Salim-ul-Haq too has arrived at somewhat the same figure!!! There is another thing that should be interesting!! Rafi Saab had sung for about 2015 films in all!!! This must be a world record by any reckoning!!!! Hats off, Rafi Saab!!! He was born to live as long as Sun and Moon live!!!! Venkat I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Need to check the data, though. I have her songs from 1740 Hindi films, and that covers less than 50% of all film songs sung by her. And I'm not even counting her regional film songs. You could be right, Aditya!!! Asha Bhosle has always been a Chupa Rustom!!!
But, Rafi Saab's 2015 Hindi films (not including his regional films) until only 1980 must be a record!!!I would like to see Asha's number until 1980. Mind you, both have entered the industry at the same time , plus or minus 5 to 6 very lean years!!! Venkat I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

MD was Hansraj Behl! Is this confirmed? Quite a coincidence that Hansraj Behl was the MD of Changhez Khan in 1957, and was asked to compose for a film with the same name a few years later. Not that it is impossible, but seems like too much of a coincidence. Aditya Aditya, that is what I was told. We need an expert's knowledge to confirm the film name, MD n lyricist. I haven't tagged my file yet. I'll keep this in mind n seek more info regarding this matter! |

Din Pyaar Ke from Ek Ke Baad Ek is a part of Aao Yaaro Aao Pyaaro Dekho Khel Niraala. I just checked the song video on YT and found that the song's been split into two parts (two diff videos). I have the complete song video. Let me know if you want it. Asad Bhopali is indeed the lyricist of Dil Ka Soona Saaz from Ek Naari Do Roop, as per my knowledge. What lyricist did the other site mention? Friends with Saleem-Ul-Haq's book, please check who the lyricist is! Many thanks! Swaminathanji, thanks for this find. I mistakenly left out Ek Sapera Ek Lootera (title song) from my list. I've found quite a number of songs also missing from the filmography list. I'll add em as well. Thanks a ton! |

I see you on this page as I'm writing this 2 you. Good 2 see you around! Last year while organizing my song library, I came across many songs with missing or incorrect information. I had to consult many sources, such as my collection of CDs, VCDS, VHSs, DVDs n of course, the internet n friends. Because my Rafi sahab folder had 10,000 + songs (including CD versions, film versions, vinyl n doubles), I couldn't arrive at the correct figure of how many actual songs of Rafi Sahab I already had and how many I was missing. It then struck me to compile Rafi sahab's Hindi filmography list. The list helped me organize my collection and I am glad it is now helping others as well. |
