I agree with 'taiyab53' Words cannot express how much I want to thank you 'swarapriya' mainly for your time and great hard work (selecting tracks and albums for matching selective themes) you put in these threads which I'm sure many people are benefiting from and I feel it does not hurt to thank you every now and then. Well done. Keep up the good work. Thanks also to all other kind upoaders who too take out time and effort without whom this forum will not be what it is today. Thank you very much Shaz. All I can say is that you're very kind. Cheers. -S |

(Saira) Aao Pyar Karen (1964) This is one great album from the incomparable Usha Khanna. This album has lots and lots of songs. And each one is just an utter delight. If you like to hear some beautiful songs of Rafi Saab, you don't need to go too far. This album has five solos of Rafi Saab and most of these are unforgettable. My favorites of this album are Rafi Saab's two solos, "Jahaan Tu Hai" and "Yeh Jhuki Jhuki". Incidentally, the latter song was filmed on Mac Mohan ("Samba" of "Sholay (1975)" fame). He puts on quite a show as a dancer! His screen credit was given under the name Brij Mohan. Because of the number of songs, I will upload them in two back-to-back posts. Here is the first set of songs ... This was an inspired album from Usha Khanna. Her earlier soundtracks had a large number of superb songs starting with her first "Dil deke dekho", this one, "Shabnam" and "Hum hindustaani". I am very fond of the Lata songs in this film, particularly "Ik sunehri shaam thhi" BTW, the Rafi solo with Mac Mohan dancing has an early film appearance of a future star - Sanjeev Kumar. I don't know how long his role in the film is, but I think he is no more than an extra in this film. Attached is a longer version of one of the songs in the film - "Meri daastaaN mujhe hi" - from the DVD Duration: 4:13 Bitrate: 96 kbps This post has been edited by sangeetbhakt: May 24 2010, 07:48 AM |

Thanks for the extended version of the song, SB. Cheers. -S |

(Asha) Chirag (1969)
Here is a magnificent offering from Madan Mohan Saab. When Mohan Saab composes music, and with Lata and Rafi Saab singing, you know you can expect some unforgettable songs. The seven songs in this album are no exception. There are four beautiful solos by Lata and three by Rafi Saab in this album. I am uploading these songs from the original sound track album in two back-to-back posts. First post contains songs from the film. The second post consists of a couple of specials. Now for the details of the songs and the songs themselves in the first post ... Attached image(s) |

Concluding Songs from "Chirag (1969)" ...
I am uploading a couple of specials in this post. The first one is from Lata's album, "I Remember Madan Mohan". In this she gives the anecdote how a delighted Mohan Saab decided to show his appreciation to Majrooh Saab. Don't miss this. It is great listening. The second special is taken from the album "Legends: Madan Mohan - The Instinctive Genius (CD 4)". Here Majrooh Saab takes turns to say a few brief but nice words about Madan Mohan Saab. Here are these specials ... Attached image(s) |

(Amitabh) Gehri Chaal (1973)
Tamil and Telugu film director Sridhar, who also made several good Hindi films, including "Dil Ek Mandir", "Nazrana", and "Pyar Kiye Ja", was responsible for this movie. This is the only movie in which Amitabh and Jeetendra appeared together. Amitabh, still struggling as an actor to be recognized, played a negative role in this utterly drab and forgettable movie. Only good thing about this film was its music by the generally dependable LP. Some lovely solos by Asha are worth mentioning. Here is a description of these songs from the original soundtrack album and the songs themselves ... This post has been edited by swarapriya: May 27 2010, 09:38 PM Attached image(s) |

(Mumtaz) Rustom-E-Hind (1965)
Here is yet another movie starring Mumtaz & Dara. I have only two songs from this movie. They are really beautiful to listen to. It appears that I may be missing four songs listed in red italics in the table below. If indeed this is the case, please do share if you can. Thank you. Now for these two beautiful songs ...
