Geeta Dutt Songs That Took The Hit

NO. they don't appear to have been released on the records.

Another example of Geeta portion getting hit in a song.
The song "More Baalma Ho More Saajna Ho" a duet with LM+chorus got picturised as an LM+Chorus song in the movie Rangeen Raaten 1956.
Does anyone have the duet record version?

In the film Hulchul 1951 two Geeta songs had got hit.

1. A song 'Oh Bichchde Hue Saathi Jiyoon Kaise Bata De Ujdi Hui' was first recorded as a Rafi-Geeta duet but was later re-recorded as a Rafi-Lata duet
2. A 7-minute long song written by Khumaar Barabankvi 'Mile Dil Aankh Sharmaayi' sung by Geeta ji, Rafi, Meena Kapoor, Mubarak Begum and chorus was recorded.

No records were issued for both the songs. It is not known whether the songs had music by Mohd Shafi or Sajjad.

As per HFGK, both songs were composed by Mohd. Shafi!

I remember reading somewhere that this song is supposed to have feature the voice of actress Geeta Bali (and not Geeta Dutt).

Yes of course erum ji. In hurry to leave I didn't read the foot note entry properly. Mohd Shafi sure had lots of experience with hit songs.

You appear to be confusing with the song Main ek shola aag babola tu kya hai main baraf ka gola from Rangeen Raaten 1956 (featuring Shamshad and Uma Devi with Geeta Bali).
The news about More Baalma is confirmed. Its a duet on records with chorus and record number is N51579 (GCIL-HMV label)

On a side note, Geeta Bali played role of brother of Mala Sinha in the movie (a rare case of a lady actor playing actor role without being in garb throughout). Also interesting to note that the hero ran away with the heroine's brother to get married during shooting

There were some discussions about the singers of this song from Rangeen Raaten.
The general feeling is that Geeta Dutt did not sing in both record and film versions of this song.

It is an instance of misprint on record label and Geet Kosh seems to have followed the record label.

This is probably correct. VN's book on Lata also mentions it as Lata & chorus. In case where there were differences in record and film versions, he has clearly noted that, but there is no such footnote for this song.

I have sent a gentle reminder to Lavanya ji (daughter of lyricist Narendra Sharma ji) to check if she got any information about the release status of the film Saagar starring P Jairaj and Nargis.

Finally we got an answer from Shri Dilipraj Paidipati (son of late Shri P Jairaj ji) that the film Saagar starring Jairaj ji and Nargis ji was made and released in the year 1948. Thanks to Lavanya ji for sharing this information with us.

Since Mahesh has mentioned that the 2 songs from Khuda Ka Banda (1957) were not released on the records, they can also be considered to have taken the "hit".

Came to know that two songs featuring Geeta ji were recorded for Raj Darbaar(1955) with music by Chitragupta. They were later cancelled and not released on records or film.

The songs are:-
1. Ye Paapi Jiyaraa Dole - Geeta Dutt, Mohd Rafi
2. Haaye Re Zamaane - Geeta Dutt

Does anyone have them?
