(Mumtaz) Kaajal (1965)

This is another beauty from the combination of Sahir and Ravi. It has as many as 14 songs and each one of them is a beauty. There are several standout songs by Asha, Mahendra, and Rafi Saab. I will upload these songs in three back-to-back posts.

Here is the first set of songs ...

SP, there is some error in tagging. The following songs are from Chadan Ka Palna (1967) and composed by RD:
- Mastana Hoye
- Nir Tata Dhang

Thank you Aditya. I made changes to reflect your suggestions. Thanks for keeping me honest. Cheers. -S

(Hema) Prem Parbat (1973)

Jaidevji, a long time assistant to S.D. Burman, composed music for less than 40 movies. But whatever he composed it was beautifully melodious. He learnt well from Burmanda. Take for example songs from this album. There are only a few of them, but they all are very good. The most popular song from this album was "Yeh Dil Aur Unki Nigaahon Ke Saaye". But other songs by Lata are equally good. My favorite is Minu Purshottam's beauty "Raat Piya Ke Sang Jaagi Re Sakhi". Purshottamji didn't sing many songs in her career but whenever she got an opportunity she sparkled. It appears like I may be missing the song shown in red italics in the table below. If indeed this is the case, please kindly share. Thanks.

Now for the sweetness ...

(Mala) Bewaqoof (1960)

When Kishore and I.S. Johar get together it definitely is mayhem and chaos. This movie was written, produced, and directed by the irreverant Johar. They had Burmanda to assist with the songs that have a lot of zaniness in them. Even with this premise to work with, Burmanda mostly succeeds here. The same team of SD-Kishore-Majrooh (minus Johar) lent their talents earlier in 1958 for that classic comedy "Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi" with roaring success. Eventhough that movie had some slapstick comedy, it was more like an organized chaos compared with "Bewaqoof".

All these songs are by the courtesy of the Forum members. Thank you. I am uploading these in back-to-back two posts. Here is the first set ...

Swarapriya, "tu hi piya chikaara" is actually "tu mi piyace cara, garsiya" which, in Italian, roughly means "I like you very much, thank you." smile.gif

For me, singing sad songs often has a way of healing a situation. It gets the hurt out in the open into the light, out of the darkness.

Saki, didn't realize it was Italian. Knowing these type of songs Kishoreda sang, I thought it could be anything. Makes sense. Thanks. -S

Devje, thanks for the other version of the song. By the way, please don't start using "ji" again.

Debopriyo,

I simply don't know. I downloaded this song from the Forum itself sometime back. If you do have this other version, please do share with us. Thanks.

(Nutan) Soorat aur Seerat (1962)

I am uploading only three songs from this album. Couple of these were contributed by the Forum members, their credits shown in the table. I am still missing a song shown in red italics in the table below. If you can, please kindly share it with rest of us.

This album has one of my favorite song by Mukeshji, "Bahut Diya Denewaale Ne Tujh Ko". Now for the three songs from this album ...
