(Mumtaz) Do Dil (1965)

Here is another fine album by Hemantda with some beautiful lyrics by Kaifi Azmi. This is one of the four movies they collaborated in (the other three being "Anupama (1964), "Faraar (1965)", and "Kohraa (1964)"). Each time the results have been very beautiful. Particularly appealing are the songs Rafi Saab's "Tera Husn Rahe" and his duet with Aarti Mukherjee "Saara Mora Kajra". Here are these and other songs from this album ...

Heera Ranjha (1970)

Here is one of late great Madan Mohanji's masterpiece. Every song is just an utter delight. Both Lata and Rafi Saab are at their best. Because of the lengths of some of the numbers, I will upload them in back-to-back two posts.

In the first post one of the song "Jo Moti Ter" was contributed by the Forum members. Its speed is at 128 kb/s. I am also including a version song of "Do Dil Toote" by Anuradha Paudwal in this first post ...

(Nutan) Chhalia (1960)

Manmohan Desai made his directorial debut with this movie. In spite of the star power of Nutan & Raj Kapoor and some real beautiful music by Kalynaji & Anandji, the movie didn't do well at the box office. But later Desai came back with a vengeance and directed 13 jubilee hits in a row, a record, before hitting the skids again.

This album has some memorable songs. Every song is just an utter delight. If someone asks to pick just one song from this movie, it will be a very tall order. However I will go with "Mere Toote Hue Dil Se". There is something about Mukesh's voice that touches your heart, especially when he sings these type of dard bhari songs.

Here are these beautiful songs ...

(Sadhana) Aap Aaye Bahaar Aayee (1971)

Here is a very beautiful album with several great songs by Rafi Saab. He sings here two great solos and three lovely duets. There is also another nice duet of Lata and Kishoreda. All in all it is a very happy album.

Here are these songs ...

(Sharmila) Amar Prem (1971)

It was at the height of Kishreda's singing career. Rajesh, the superstar still had that magic touch. R.D. was at his creative best. In sync with them was Anand Bakshi Saab providing some great lyrics. Then there is beautiful and talented Sharmila. Now add to this the director Shakti Samanta, who was on a roll. The net result was a fine musical product like "Amar Prem".

This album is just a sheer delight. Every song is an absolute joy. Kishoreda has three great solos in it. So did Lata. Even SD comes in to give an assist to his son by singing a great song himself. Things don't get any better than this, musically speaking. When things are this good, it is difficult to pick one as your favorite. But I do have one. It is Kishoreda's "Chingari Koi Bhadke". What a great song. Beautifully sung with such a deep feeling that it tends to stay with you forever. The song was immensely helped by some rich lyrics of Bakshi Saab.

I will upload these songs in back-to-back two posts. The first posting consists of all the songs from the album. The second posting has several specials.

Now for the first set of songs ...

Concluding Songs of "Amar Prem (1971)" ...

I am including in this post several specials. One of this is the song "Chingari Koi Bhadke". It has a fine introduction by the bhajan and ghazal singer Anup Jalota. This is taken from the album "Legends: Kishore Kumar - The Versatile Genius (CD3)". I am also including a private version of the same song by Amit. Thirdly, I am including another special version of the same song, this time with an introduction by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. This is taken from the album "Legends: R.D. Burman - The Versatile Composer (CD 1)". Finally, I am including a special version of the song "Raina Beeti Jaaye" from the same album. This has an introduction by RD himself.

Here are these specials ...

(Vyjayanti) Kathputli (1957)

This musical has some great songs. Lata, like it was usual in Shankar & Jaikishan's early movies, dominates with all but one, seven songs altogether, six solos and a duet. They all are lovely to listen to. Subir Sen has a great solo in "Manzil Wohi Hai Pyaar Ki". I will upload these in two back-to-back postings. Here is the first set of songs ...

(Waheeda) Shagoon (1964)

Here is the combination of Sahir & Khayyam that always promised great things and each time the team delivered. For example, "Phir Subah Hogi" and "Kabhi Kabhie" come immediately to mind. The songs of "Shagoon" does have similar magic in them. Every song is an utter delight. There are two beautiful solos each by Suman Kalyanpur, Jagjit Kaur and Rafi Saab. Couple of great duets too. Jagjit Kaur sings her heart out in "Tum Apna Ranj-O-Gham". That delightful romantic duet of Suman Kalyanpur with Rafi Saab, "Parbaton Ke Pedon Pe" paints an unforgettable picture. The two solos by Rafi Saab, "Tum Chali Jaaoge" and "Yeh Raat Bahut Rangeen Sahi", are just divine. On and on ...

I am uploading these songs in two back-to-back posts. The first post has songs from the original soundtrack album. The second post has some extended version songs.

Now for the first set of songs ...
