Actually this song belongs to Sassi Punnu 1938 where
it was sung by a male. The MD of that movie was Dhumi
Khan.

The other song: aa mil meriye maahiyaa ve
was sung by Surinder Kaur, who also recorded
raah jaandi akhiyaan la.Daye in the tune of
Jab se balam ghar aaye/Barsaat.


And the name of that male singer was
M. Aslam

It is certainty Iqbal Bano (the famous ghazal singer), I heard this song last month in Lahore with a frriend. Unfortunately was not able to get a copy.

Inaam Bhai, according to me also it is Iqbal Begum (Baalo).

Any authentic source indicating that Iqbal Bano had ever gone
to Lahore (from Delhi) prior to 1950-51?

Thanks for your comments. I too tend to think of the singer as Iqbal Begum. Meena Kumari's mother's name also is Iqbal Begum. Could this singer be Meena Kumari's mother? Also there has been no comment or any kind of activity from Mr. Urzung Khan.I hope he is O.K. Can anyone provide any information?
