(Nargis) Khel (1950)

Here is another beauty from that "eccentric genius" Sajjad Hussain. Unfortunately I have only three songs from this album that I am uploading here. There are at least four missing. These are shown in red italics in the table below. Requesting members to share these if they can. Thanks. The four songs I am uploading were contributed by the Forum members as well. Thank you.

I read some place that Sajjad Hussain just about hated everyone he worked with. Only notable exceptions were Lata and Noor Jehan. Yet, Geetaji sang few beauties for him. One of them is the song from this movie, "Saajna Din Bahure Hamaare Saajna". The playful singing of the mukhda by stretching Saajnaaaa is an absolute delight to hear in Geetaji's voice. Hrishi Dixit, writing in an article in "Abhi To Main Jawan Hun" has this beautiful description of the composition of this song. Quoting his words, he states that, "... it does carry hints of his (Sajjad Hussain's) inescapable trademarks, one of which is a fascinating violin ensemble, especially in the opening bars - the way the brisk pace of the violins complements the reluctantly offbeat rhythm (his other trademark) is truly amazing ...". Well, I couldn't have said it better.

Here are the three songs I have ...

Here are the missing Lata solo and Shamshad solo. There is another Shamshad solo from Khel which is not in your outstanding list, and I also upload that. From memory, both Shamshad songs were originally uploaded by forum member smahesh. Thanks to him once again.

I think Wo Aayenge is an amazing song - one of Sajjad and Shamshad's best songs, it could only be the work of a mad genius. If you haven't heard it before, you're in for a treat.

All three songs are mp3, the Shamshad ones 128kbps and Lata 160kbps.

Enjoy!
Faraaj

Kind Regards

SP, Rpnawani and Faraaj,

Thanks for Khel songs.

A small change to the song listing.
'khel nahin, khel nahin' appears to be from Doli (1947)
Khel has 9 songs total.

(Madhubala) Tarana (1951)

Here is a beauty from Anilda. The songs reflect the moods of the lead pair, Madhubala & Dilip. There was budding romance between these two and it can be easily seen how it displays on the screen when these two are together. Madhubala never looked this prettier, lighting up the screen with her sensously infectious smile. Dilip never looked this easy going in any roles he played. Their real life romance permeates the on screen presence and it is refreshing to see them together in all its moods of a beautiful romance.

I am uploading these songs in two back-to-back posts. Here is the first set of songs ...

(Meena) Naulakha Haar (1953)

This is one forgettable movie Meena Kumari was in. But it has a few good songs. These were all ripped from a DVD. EarthMusic lists at least four others that were not in the DVD. I am listing these missing ones separately in the table below shown in red italics.

Here are the songs ...
