(Asha) Meri Surat Teri Ankhen (1963)
I don't want to sound like a broken record but when it comes to melody I think Burmanda always occupies one of the top spots. To prove my proposition, take this album as an example. It is simply superb. Each song is an exquisitely crafted number. Burmanda here has the services of seven different singers to sing seven separate songs. Rarely used Mukesh also lends his voice to a beautiful duet. Even though I love all these songs, my personal favorite is Mannada's "Poocho Na Kaise" number. A great song. Some beautiful lyrics. It touches deeply your heart. The second part of "Poocho Na Kaise" apart from Manna Dey and S.D. Batish as singers, also has a female voice. I am not sure who it is. I am requesting members to identify the name. Apart from the songs from the orginal album, I am also uploading some specials in the second posting following this. Now for the songs of this album ... Songs of "Meri Surat Teri Ankhen (1963)" Continued ...
I am including three extras in this post. I am uploading the song "Poocho Na Kaise" with famous bhajan and ghazal singer Anup Jalota's introduction. Anupji has some nice words of praise pinpointing the versatality of incomparable Mannada. This song and its introduction are from the album "Legends: Manna Dey - The Maestro (CD 2)". I am also including a version of the same song by Abhijeet from his album "Salute to Legends". Finally, I am including an extended version of "Tere Bin Soone Nain Hamaare". This is by the courtesy of the members of the Forum. Thank you. Now for the songs ... This post has been edited by swarapriya: Dec 2 2009, 10:08 PM Attached image(s) |

(Mala) Parvarish (1958)
This is one of Dattaram's finest musicals. A long time assistant to Shankar & Jaikishan, he did compose for only a few films, but they all were marvelous. This movie is no exception. This album has one of my favorite songs of Mukesh, "Aansoo Bhari Hain". When it comes to pathos, nobody comes even close to the way Mukeshji sings those type of songs. Long after you hear the song, the feeling of dispair and sadness seem to stay with you. I am uploading all the songs from the original sound track CD album. In the second post I have several specials. Now for the first set of songs ... Attached image(s) |

Songs of "Parvarish (1958)" Continued ...
In this post I am uploading several specials. Lata sang Mukesh's "Aansoo Bhari" as a tribute. I am uploading this song from her album "Lata's Shraddhanjali (CD 1)". I am uploading the same song again, but this time with few words spoken by Mukesh himself at the beginning of the song. This one is taken from the album "Legends: Mukesh - The Soulful Voice (CD 1)". I am also including the same song, for the third time in this post, but this time with a beautiful introduction by Mala Sinha. Here Mala talks about how Raj Kapoor helped her with his encouraging words as she was very nervous to act with him. This one is taken from the album "Legends: Raj Kapoor - The Showman (CD 2)". Finally, I am including another song, that beautiful duet by Lata and Mannada, "Masti Bhari" with a brief introduction, again, by Mala Sinha. This one is again taken from the same album, "Legends: Raj Kapoor - The Showman (CD 2)". Now for these songs ... Attached image(s) |
