(Madhubala) Pardes (1950)
Here is one of my favorite albums of Ghulam Mohammed Saab. This one boasts several beautiful songs. It has one of my favorite solo of Shamshadji, "Mere Ghungharwaale Baal". It is so sensational that you feel like swinging to the tune the way Shamshadji sings with such gay abandon. Then there is an utterly delightful duet of Lata and Rafi Saab, "Ankhiyan Mila Ke". This song was composed with so much zest that you are envigorated with its melody. The song contrasts Lata's melosonically sweet young voice to that of the deep vocals of Rafi Saab that has a touch of strong inflection and a distinctive and decisive tinge in the style of singing. Lata also has another five beautiful solos. Ghulam Mohammed Saab was such a great composer and you wonder why he never got his due. It is a pity. The album has nine songs. I am uploading seven of them here. The two missing songs are shown in red italics in the table below. I am requesting members to share these songs if they can. Thank you. Now for the songs ... Great upload Swarapriya. One often wonders about the extremely talented lot, the mainstream success and its elusiveness. Such musings take on subtle shades of mood and meaning. They are at times perhaps a bit like melodious random notes on a harmonica. Like sunlight sifting through trees on the face of a sleepy traveller on the train. The fleeting twinge of sadness for some may be a tranquil yet surreal personal moment for others. |

These are the types of things that I helplessly and sometimes hopelessly fell in love with. I feel like that sleepy traveller on the train except in this case the sunlight is occasionally sifting through on my face as well. What a great feeling. I feel that tranquility to be a personal surreal moment for myself ... Love it. Cheers, Swarapriya |

(Meena) Aladdin Aur Jadui Chirag (1952)
Also Known As "Aladdin And The Wonderful Lamp" This story was made into a movie so many times, it seems like in almost all languages of the world. In Hindi alone it was made a few times. There is a question whether the music for this movie was composed by either Tripathi and Chitragupt together or Tripathi alone. Many references I have seen seems to suggest that it was by both of them. Chitragupt also sang a couple of songs in this movie. Interestingly, Chitragupt gave music to another movie of the same title (the title of the Hindi movie was in English) made 20 years later in 1972. This story was made into a movie in Telugu as well in 1957. I will upload its songs in this section after uploading the Hindi songs. Here are the songs of the Hindi version ... Aladdin Adbhuta Deepam (1957) - A Telugu Film
This movie was either shot partly in color or fully in color. They went to Kashmir to picturize some of the songs. Songs are nice and the scenery was good. But the movie itself was a bomb. Here are the songs ... Attached image(s) |

Here are some pretty good songs from this album. Couple of these came from CD collections and others are by the courtesy of the Forum members. Thank you. I have longer versions of most of these songs but their quality is so terrible that I have decided to not upload them. But the quality of these songs I am uploading here is fine. Here they are ...
