Maverick Sajjad Hussain, who composed the earlier Ye Hawa Ye Raat Ye Chandni for Sangdil wasn't thrilled to hear Tujhe Kya Sunaoon and made it a point to physically accost Madan Mohan publicly... That is an interesting tidbit Faraaj. Thanks for the info. Cheers. -S |

Yes..read it somewhere. It seems Sajjad went up to Madan mohan in a function when he was with lots of guests and asked him how he got the nerve to copy his tunes...to which it seems MM has simply replied..since it is your tune, i copied it !! Most of the geniuses lost out on many of opportunities not for the lack of skills but the eccentricities they carried....really sad. Like you've mentioned, someone aptly observed that if you are not eccentric you are not a genius. This proved to be the case in many cases time and again. Cheers. (Saira) Diwana (1967)
Here is another fine musical from Shankar & Jaikishan with Mukesh ji dominating the album with six solos. I am also uploading an extended version of "Pate Ki Baat". This probably was contributed by a member of the Forum. Thanks. Because of the number of songs, I will upload them in back-to-back posts. Here is the first set of songs ... Attached image(s) |

(Waheeda) Kala Bazar (1960)
Here is a classic from Burmanda. There was such chemistry between Dev Anand and SD that each time they got together the result was unforgettable music. This album is no exception. It has two of my favorite Rafi Saab's solos, "Apni To Har Aah" that was sung with such a lasting deep feeling and "Khoya Khoya Chaand" an infectiously delicious song that overwhelms by giving the feeling of as if you are drenching in the moonlight, and a beautifully mesmerizing duet of Rafi Saab with Geetaji, "Rimjhim Ke Taraane Leke", that feels as if you're running in the rain with gay abandon. Music doesn't get any better than this. I am also including a song contributed by the members of this Forum, "Sambhaalo Sambhaalo". Thank you. Now here are the songs ...
