Suresh...here is the song. I know, how you get accustomed to Ji. Stayed in Raj for a couple of years. Wow..you met PBS ? I saw him once walking into his favorite haunt ' woodlands', but lost nerve to greet him and talk to him..Lost my chance ! I respect him very much..as singer, scholar, person.. http://www.4shared.com/file/119617407/752f...NNADI_PBS_.html Now, i do hope that Humtum Bhai wont rap me on knuckles for making his thread..Priyamaina paatalu ! SF, I also met him only at WOODLANS at Gemini Corner. I had with me a friend that knew PBS well. He introduced him to me. It was a little bit of polite chatter. Nothing more. But the memory lingers on. Thanks for the song. With best regards, Suresh |

Suresh...yes, memories are what matter in the end..
SB...my pleasure. After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.

SB..that is very informative. telugu version..Monagallaku monagadu ...came in 1966 and the MD was Veda. which clinches that Hindi came first with Ravi giving the original wonderful compositions.. Cant recall the LR Eswari song off the cuff.. 128 kbps --- duration 3.43 minutes (CDQ) HumTum Thanks for a beautiful song. It used to be a very popular song then. LRE's voice added the right bit of sensuality to the song. Regards, Suresh |

RTP..sorry, i missed out your post. please do away with Ji.. The song you mentioned is " Pulakinchani madi pulakinche" from the film " Pelli Kaanuka". sung by Jikki, it is an immortal melody. the same film was made in Hindi as " nazrana" starring Raj kapoor.. Here is the song... http://www.4shared.com/file/125236147/74a2...eya_AMRaja.html Here is one pristine song of Suseela..from the film Pasa malar..i love this version, as there is so little background music.. pure bliss ! Malarthum malaraatha Pasa malar Suseela http://www.mediafire.com/?x1ltmjzom3m After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.

I shudder to listen to any present day tamil film song. Perhaps I am stuck in a time-warp. Best Regards, Suresh SF, You just seem to have the amazingly ability to just toss a song, that takes one back on the time machine. And that too a song, I am very fond of. Absolutely great song, amazingly fresh, even after so many years. Must be rated as one of Susheela's all time calssics. I also remember Pasa Malar for Sivaji's great acting. Suresh..thanks for the appreciation.
I think we are fortunate to have listened to these timeless classics while in formative years..they gave direction to our taste in music..I would prefer to stay in time warp..rather than foray into the present days' cacophony... infact i feel sad for the kids. I often end up asking them, if the music they listen to can survive the onslaught of time.. After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.

In fact my cut-off lines for both Hindi & Tamil is at least 30 years and at the most 20 years. The cacophony apart, the electronic instrumentation gets on my nerves and to me, at least, seems soul-less. There are, always, notable exceptions but the general scene is absolutely dreary and I share your view about their survival. Luckily, my family likes & enjoys, my brand of music. As I am writing this I am listening to Paattu Paadva from Then Nilavu. Best Regards, Suresh |

Suresh..I totally agree with you there. infact i can be termed as layman after eighty..barring a few songs. am glad that your family enjoys the music along with you. For me it is kind of lonely trot .. I try to spread music by gifting out CDs to younger ppl around me..and ofcourse, surprise them once in a while by making them listening to a beautiful song of yesteryears to let them realize that the song they patronize now, is just a pale imitation of it.
I dont understand tamil..not much anyway, but enjoy every little nuance of the song when TMS or Suseela or PBS sing with their hearts out..truly music transcends linguistic barriers.. Here is one more beautiful song of TMS...which demonstrates the fact .. Sindhu nathiyile... I feel "Time warp" effect affects most of us. I am stuck with songs till mid sixties and love songs of 40-60 period. However, I remember my father getting annoyed with me whenever I used to switch on Radio Ceylon during the years 58-60. He used to be very critical of "newer" film songs – he used to like "old" Tamil songs of MSS, DKPattammal, NCV, GNB etc. However, the difference is I too like songs of MSS, DKPattammal, NCV, GNB in addition to Old Goldies of Hindi (and now Tamil) film songs. Today I am surprised at the songs my children like. Luckily, my children like film songs of 50s and 60s (no 40s please!!).
Today, I found a AMRaja-PLeela duet - PanPaadi Varum. I am unable to get details of song like movie name and MD. Can anybody please help? Sincere regards, Rajan This post has been edited by RajanCS: Aug 17 2009, 11:34 AM |

Started listening to some PBhanumathi songs last night. While most of the songs heard so far are excellent, I specifically liked very much the song - Maanum Mayilum Aadum Solai from ApoorvaSagotharargal (1949).
