(Meena) Lal Haveli (1944)
Here are songs from this album. All female songs are by the great one, Noor Jehan. I am not sure about the singer of the songs "Ab Raat" and "Kyon Mann". It sounds like Rafi Saab. May be someone can verify this. Thanks. Now for the songs of "Lal Haveli" ... This post has been edited by swarapriya: Aug 16 2009, 01:46 AM Attached image(s) |

I read somewhere that Teri Yaad Aaye Sanwariya (or some other Noor Jehan song in Lal Haveli) was actually composed by C. Ramchandra, who was Mir Saheb's assistant in this film. Of course, this comes from the pen of the 'great' Raju Bharatan, so the veracity of this claim is questionable. Can some knowledgeable HF emember clarify if the record credits this song to CR? Nai Roshni (1941) - Sardar Akhtar, Meena Kumari, Harish & Agha - Music: Anil Biswas This film had a beautiful Zeenat Begum song Dard e Dil Dil Mein Basaya Jaaye Gaa....unfortunately I only have a low b/r of this song. I hope some one can upload the entire album. The other Anil Biswas album you mention, Garib had a couple of Surendranath songs. Nothing to write home about. Kind Regards Faraaj Kind Regards Faraaj Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. - Victor Hugo There is only one better thing than music - live music. - Jacek Bukowski I hate music, especially when it's played. - Jimmy Durante No good opera plot can be sensible, for people do not sing when they are feeling sensible. - W. H. Auden |

Dear SP,
I have been away from the forum for almost a fortnight, except for an occasional visit, when I could not resist the urge. Today, I found time to read all the five pages. You have created havoc, if I may say so, by setting the Ganges on fire, as it were. It is an absolute riot of a thread concentrating on the films of two great ladies whom I greatly admire & another (Madhubala), who I simply, adore. It requires enormous amount of courage combined with hard work to start another awesomely ambitious thread when the 'Muse & Music' is going great guns. I am absolutely sure that your research would be meticulous and top-notch and you will pull it off in great style. I doff my hat (imaginary, of course) in admiration for the choice of the topic. With best wishes for the thread and looking forward to great times ahead, Suresh This post has been edited by madsur: Aug 16 2009, 05:55 AM |

It is things like this that keep you motivated to push ahead and the results are, though painfully time consuming, in the end an experience in extreme excitement and endless joy. Welcome back and cheers, Swarapriya |
