(Nargis) Talash-E-Haq (1935)
This was the first movie of Nargis who was introduced as a child star with the name Baby Rani. It was produced and directed by Nargis' own mother Jaddan Bai who also composed its music. Bai has the distinction of being the first ever female music director. In the same year Saraswati Devi also directed the music for "Jawani Ki Diwani" but Jaddan Bai's was the first to come out months beore the "Diwani" movie. Jaddan Bai was a versatile lady who was also a singer and actress. She used to sing daadraas and thumris over the radio and was quite popular. She was also a gramophone record artist. While performing in a show she was noticed by K.L. Saigal who encouraged her to act and sing in the movies. I am attaching a photograph of Jaddan Bai with this write up. She is standing next to Dilip Kumar where as Nargis is with Mehboob Khan. Unfortunately, I don't have a single song from this movie. If anyone of you have it, please kindly share. 02-3.48-Geeta Dutt & Male Voice-O Duniya Ke Rehney Waalon--128 kb Mirsaji, The male voice belongs to Raj Kapoor. Cheers, Swarapriya Swarapriya There has been a lot of discussion about the male voice(s) in this song. I listened to this song repeatedly and I feel that there are two different male voices in the this song. Based on my ears, none of them sound like Raj Kapoor. I remember Mahesh Sharma ji confirming this understanding during the discussion of this song in Geeta Dutt forum some time back. Best Regards Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com

4th movie under Madhubala's list is Phoolwari. I have only one song from this movie and its a radio version and a vinyl one will be appreciated: Here is Hawa Chale Saaye Saaye from Phoolwari - a radio version unfortunately....this song is a spoof of Ghata Ghanghor Ghor by Khurshid Bano.... Kind Regards Faraaj Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. - Victor Hugo There is only one better thing than music - live music. - Jacek Bukowski I hate music, especially when it's played. - Jimmy Durante No good opera plot can be sensible, for people do not sing when they are feeling sensible. - W. There you go again, Swarapriyaji! It's not at all surprising to see that you started yet another splendid and marvelous thread. Madhubala is my all time favorite. I wish you all the success. May this thread boom, just like the rest of your threads. I'll contribute to this thread whenever time permits. All the very best! Cheers Hi, Your endorsement means a lot to me. I know what you have done with Geetaji's video songs on You Tube. Time and again you came up with marvellous contributions, including some uploads on my other threads. I will do my best to make sure that I live up to your expectations. It is good to know that you will be there to help me out whenever it is needed. Please drop "ji" when you address me next time. Thanks and lots of cheers, Swarapriya Point noted, Swarapriya! I request you to do the same! |

Swarapriya Here is Geeta Roy singing Mujhe Bawari Bawari Log Kahein. Even if you didn't know the MD, 30 secs into the tune you would've guessed it was Sajjad Hussein!!! Enjoy!
