Swarapriya, Thanks for this this very nice album of Do Dillon Ki Dastan. I found one difference in my song listing. 'Khoobsurat saathi' appears to belong to Akalmand (1966). Exon I checked my music library. This song appears in both the places inmy library. Apparently one has to be wrong. May be someone else also can confirm whether this song actually belongs in here or not. Thanks, Swarapriya |

Hello,
As Exon points out in his message, I have now confirmed this, the duet by Ashaji and Kishoreda, "Khubsoorat", belongs to "Akalmand", another OP album. Instead of removing from the list, I am leaving it alone because many are downloading this song. Thanks Exon for pointing out the error. Cheers, Swarapriya |

Nishchaiy (1992)
This is one of the last movies for which OP composed music for. "Zid" was the last movie. This movie preceded that. This was after his famous split with Ashaji. He gave music to only six movies after the split. Five of them were in Hindi and one in Telugu. Of these only Telugu songs enjoyed immense popularity. But they were regional and there was no national exposure. The principal female singer of the Telugu songs was S. Janaki who has uncanny resemblance to Ashaji's voice. May be that is one explanation for the success that OP could bring his old magic to these songs. Janaki was also trained in classical music. She did sing several Hindi songs, mostly for Bappi Lahiri and some for Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Most of these movies were remakes of hit Southern movies and were made by the Southern producers. The other movies of OP in post-Ashaji phase were missing that spunk it seems like Ashaji used to provide. You can feel the "lack" of enthusiasm on part of some of these compositions. The effort was there. But the results were not the same. That spontaneity he enjoyed when Ashaji was singing for him, that was missing from these songs. In all fairness to its singers these are not bad songs. However, like the song in this album says, it is "Nayee Surahi Taaza Pani", yes. But for the ardent fans of OP who are used to being served musical feast with every new album, unfortunately these songs do not leave the same taste. In this movie, "Nishchaiy", all female songs were sung by Kavita Krishnamurty. She had a solo and four duets with Amit Kumar. Mohd. Aziz has a solo. Different set of singers. A different feel of music. Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) |

Taxi Driver (1973)
Here is an early 70's album from OP. There are some pretty good songs here. He had Krishna Kalle sing one of the songs for the first time for his movies. Also, there are couple of other new singers; Ambar Kumar and Badri Prasad. At least they are new to me. One of the songs "Baalam Harjaaee" is six minutes long in the album. However there are two completely different songs in this with a gap of nearly 10 seconds. I decided to separate them into two songs. One of them is "Baalam Harjaaee" and the other one is "Yahaan Chiragh". Here are the details of the songs and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) |

Heera Moti (1979)
Here is an OP album from post-Ashaji era. Here he has Dilraj Kaur singing all the female songs. Surprisingly, she does sound, at least on occasion, like Ashaji. May be she was trying to imitate Ashaji's voice or may be she was instructed to do it by OP. Rafi Saab who was dropped by OP from some of his movies after a dispute with him is back co-singing three songs here. I think these songs never got their proper due because the album was released during the tumultuous times of OP's famous split with Ashaji (or vice versa). Inevitably people were comparing, however unfair it was, how Dilraj Kaur sounded different from Ashaji. Now for the details of the songs and the songs themselves ...
