Swarapriya, thanks for EBMD. Listening to these songs after many years ! Really a special effort from OP in later phase of his career ! Its sad that the film did not get much commercial success ! Cheers Parag It is amazing that OP kept on providing some beautiful and unforgettable music for so many forgettable movies that are not even worth mentioning except for their music. Cheers, Swarapriya |

Do Dilon Ki Dastan (1966)
This movie pairs Vyjayanti Mala & Pradeep Kumar. They were in few movies together, most of them making money. Of course, their biggest hit was Filmistan's "Nagin". Apart from acting in "Do Dilon Ki Dastan", Pradeep Kumar also wrote its story, produced the movie, and directed it. OP is in familiar groove here. His proverbial horse hoof song is there ("Aji Peheli Mulaqat ..."). A cabaret type of song is there. This was sensuosuly sung by Ashaji ("Yeh Machalta Samaa ..."). Several fine duets are there. But real surprise here is that Kishoreda was drafted to sing a duet with Ashaji ("Khubsurat Saathi .."). The surprise is that for Pradeep Kumar, Hemantda usually sings. Of course Hemantda didn't sing for OP until "Sambandh" in which he had three songs. In mid-60's it was only Burmanda who used Kishoreda's talents as a singer for playback of Dev Anand screen songs. That is what is so intriguing about this beautiful song. There are nine songs in this album. I am uploading only eight of them. I am missing one song. This is shown in red italics in the following table. I am requesting the Forum members to share this song with us if they have it. Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ... Swarapriya ji, Thanks for Do Dilon Ki Daastan songs.
This is another album when the Rafi - Asha - OP trio came up with great numbers. But my personal favourite is 'Milti Hai Agar'. And thanks for great quality again. Pratul |

SHUKRIYA My dear Anandji, like always, thank you. Aap ko sarvadaa anand hi anand mile. -Swarapriya P.S: I am following your "Abida Parveen" thread. Nice one. I have a modest collection of her songs (ghazals, sufi, kafi, geets, nazms... currently over 200; most of the songs you've uploaded I already have them). Even though I am at a loss with some Urdu words, the intensity with which she sings her songs makes them so utterly beautiful to listen to. On the top of it Urdu is such a flowery language. Parveenji brings these flowers to bloom and smell with a sweet and unforgettable fragrance with her golden voice and inimitable style. Cheers, Swarapriya |

Humsaya (1968) Here is another one of those beautiful albums that stays with you forever. Almost all songs are top notch. Rafi Saab is back after an absence of few movies with OP. He has one great solo "Dil Ki Awaz Bhi Sun" that echoes deep through the chambers of your heart. A lovely piece indeed. Ashaji has four solos. All winners. I want to single out two of them here. The song "O Kanhaiya" was sung with great aplomb. But my favorite from this album, and one of my all time favorites of Ashaji is the song "Woh Haseen Dard De Do". This beauty was written by Shevan Rizvi Saab. The way Ashaji gets into this song and delivers it with such intensity that it touches your heart with relentless passion and the feeling stays with you for ever. A superb allround composition and rendering of the song. There are seven songs in ths album. Details of these are given in the following table followed by the songs themselves ... Rafi Saab was not back with OPN for at least 4 to 5 years from late 1966 to around 1971. These two Rafi songs from Hamsaaya(1968) must have been recorded earlier itself. Actually, Rafi Saab's stint with OPN, for all practical purposes, ends with 1966. The later songs, whether recorded earlier or recorded after patch-up, were low in quantity as well as quality. Venkat This post has been edited by venkat: Aug 22 2008, 07:32 PM I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Swarapriya,
Thanks for this this very nice album of Do Dillon Ki Dastan. I found one difference in my song listing. 'Khoobsurat saathi' appears to belong to Akalmand (1966). Exon |
