Samundari Daaku (1956)

Jaidevji gave music to several films

Swarapriya ji
Do you have album Bhaavna 1972. If yes please upload

Rasik ji,

Unfortunately I do not have Jaidevji's Bhavna album. For some reason or other, it is so difficult to purchase some of Jaidevji's albums. If someone can point me to a source where I can find Jaidevji's some of these obscure albums.

Thanks,
Swarapriya

I have two solos (Rafi and Asha) from Bhavna. Will post them later.

Swarapriya,

Thanks a lot for the 'Raat Piyaa Ke Sang' song. Earth Music lists the singer as Madhuri Purandare.
Member's familiar with Marathi singers, please confirm the singer.
I had noted the singers name for 'banno chudi na khanka' as Minu Purushotham and Noor Jehan-3. Again not sure.

Exon,

CD says Minoo Parshottam.
She has a solo in Mehmaan (1973). Sounds kind of similar voice. but not sure.
If you have that song. you can try listen to it.
Even the lyricist info is different from Cd to Eathmusic.net

Samundari Daaku (1956)

Jaidevji gave music to several films but only after "Hum Dono" people started recogniziong his name. I am uploading four songs of "Samundari Daaku" here, one of his early films. I am missing two songs from this album. These are listed in the following table in red italics. If anyone of the members have them, please share with us.

Here is a description of the songs and songs themselves ...

The singer of Samaan Pyaara is Asha Bhosle & Balbir and not Mohammed Rafi. Please correct.

R&D,

I compared the song with Minu Purushotham's songs from Mehmaan. I agree with you, the voice in the two songs sound very similar. I am assuming that it is a database error at Earth Music. Thanks.

Parinay (1974)

Here is another "small" film for which Jaidev the music composer's association by now we all should be familiar with. It seems like there are so many of these "small" (low budget and no big star cast) movies that Jaidevji gave music for. Most of the time, these have only few songs. Yet, it is so difficult to obtain these songs or their albums. I probably got about half of his songs. It is the other half I am having problems obtaining. So I am repeating my request here. If someone can point to a good and reliable source where I can find Jaidevji's work, I would highly appreciate it.

This movie has four songs. I am uploading three of them here. As in other albums, Jaidevji uses lesser known talents in some songs with beautiful results. The missing song is shown in red italics in the table below.

Earthmusic lists the music director for Manna Da's duet as Manna Dey himself. I don't know whether this is correct or not because the Earthmusic database is helpful but is riddled with so many errors. I wish there was a reliable and better database one can refer to and depend on.

The songs came from various sources. Therefore, their quality is not uniform. Now for details of the songs and songs themselves ...

Ek Thi Reeta (1971)

Here is another movie by Jaidevji where there are several beautiful songs. Sarla Kapoor appears as a singer in three of the songs in this album. In the duet with Manna Dey, her voice uncannily resembles that of Asha. I was completely fooled.

There are 11 songs in this album. I am uploading 9 of them. I do not have the other two. These are shown in red italics in the table below. A request to the Forum members: please share these if you have them.

The song "Hulle Hulla Re" has a male cosinger with Asha. I don't know who it is. Again, I am requesting the Forum members to identify the missing singer's name.

The lyrics for the song "Kahin Haath Hum Se" appears similar to the one written by Shivan Rizvi for O.P. Nayyar in "Dil Aur Mohabbat (1968)". That song was sung by Asha and Mahendra Kapoor: "Haath Aayaa Hai Jab Se".

Now for details of the songs and songs themselves ...
