How "different" Nasir? huh.gif

Noorie

Jinnat (plural of Jin) or genies are actual creation just as we humans are a creation in Islam. Ibn Taimiyya had written a lot on the Jinn though I do not agree with many of his views explaining the presence of the Jinss. An english book on the JINN appears in a condensed form. All that discussion would be "technical". As for us the common people, our knowledge usually comes about from what we see and hear on this subject - one of which I have already narrated yesterday.

Jinns are mentioned in the Quran al-Majeed and other scriptures. They have also been created to worship God. In fact, Hazrat Suleiman (a.s.) (Solomon) had the Jinns for his service as every Muslim knows. Also, the incident that occurred during the preparation war of trenches at Madinah when one Sahabi went to his and found his wife standing at the door infuriating him and how he later saw a big snake on his bed (a Jinn) is another famous incident. Also, there are ahadith on Prophet (s) direct confrontation with a Jinn and his tying them up to a pole, i.e. sparing him in deference to Prophet Sulaiman a.s., makes an interesting reading. Then the very famous incidenty involving Abu Hurairah ® during the period of Ramadan is also found in the hadith literature. The Jinns can take any form or shape. Also, though human cannot see the jinns on earth they will be able to see them in the afterlife but the Jinns won't be able to see the human beings there. Another important fact is that the Jinns may belong to all religions, some being Budhhists, etc. In fact the recent authoritative incident has been recorded when the late Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Ibn Baaz, exorcised a Jinn from a woman's body. How the Jinns are to be exorcised are a science by itself.

As for poltergeists, it is generally stated that these are just the projection of a mind of a person either in a family or at work places. For laymen, they are sort of ghosts who make lot of noises, throw things around, and cause general harassments.

My NaaniJaan used to say,
" If you ever see a Jinn do not read Surah-Jinn, People tend to believe that it scares the Jinn away, but they do not know that if you read that Surah, the Jinn becomes more powerful & might advance towards you ".

Haneef unsure.gif

As far as I know, Surah Jinn is recited in profusion for freeing a person from the jail. As for repelling the Jin, Aayatu Kursi (The Throne Verses) from Surah Baqra are effective according to Islamic scholars. Also, the last two Surahs of the Quran (Surah Falaq and Surah Naas) are also recited. "Oudhu Billah...." is also frequently recited. All power comes from God.

Nasir Bhai, Can you please write about this ahadith in brief.
In any forum (spiritual) you may find fit (just give me the link here).

PS: I don't know how that family came in terms with the Jinns. I think an 'Aamil' was used as a medium.

Imam Bukhari (reh):
Volume 2, Book 22, Number 301:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet once offered the prayer and said, "Satan came in front of me and tried to interrupt my prayer, but Allah gave me an upper hand on him and I choked him. No doubt, I thought of tying him to one of the pillars of the mosque till you get up in the morning and see him. Then I remembered the statement of Prophet Solomon, 'My Lord ! Bestow on me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me.' Then Allah made him (Satan) return with his head down (humiliated)."

Please recheck the reference number because in some books it may differ...

Bollywood ghost movies only? Why not its studios. Believe me, some of them are haunted as well. One incident that comes immediately to mind is the MUKESH MILLS (I hope I got the name right) an abandoned area in Mumbai, where most the movies used to be shot. Many workers had died in the fire that destroyed the Mill. It isbelieved that many ghosts of the workers are active there. There was this girl - a junior artiste, who aftthe shooting went to urinate in some remote corner of the abandoned Mill. She was immediately possessed by some ghost. This girl was never normal thereafter . She died within a year.

Another ghostly incident relates to a famous Studio in the far western suburbs of Mumbai (name is deliberately suppressed by me). Here in some dress room, when an artiste was examining the dresses, one particular dress that was hung quite high suddenly came down on its own - making that artiste run out of the room.

Thus I've heard of many incidents relating to the studios as well as the Hotels where the film-wallahs are usually lodged on outdoor locations. smile.gif

Reeth could it be possible that they (tribesmen) had relocated in this new place & did not lit up the place.
Fearing they would be found out again & removed forcefully from their houses/huts.
People can adapt seeing in the dark, I for sure need total darkness in the bedroom before I hit the bed for sleep.
