Here is another song I was just listening to.

Dard - Ahl-E-Dil (Female).mp3

Dear Friends,
One friendly advice. Don't get trapped in just collecting the treasure, but take some time to listen (with heart and full concentration) to the gems you have collected. You will enjoy them more and get immense pleasure out of them.
Here comes the next gem.
Singer: Lata
Song: Main jagoon sari rain (3:21, 128kbps)
Film: Bahurani (1962)
Lyrics: Sahir Ludhianvi
Mucis: C Ramchandra

Enjoy

Very true, Sanjakshji !

And this song deseves to be heard with open ears, heart and soul. A lilting CR melody which was a literal swansong for the great composer in popular music. Though he did continue composing for some odd B-grade films, none of them displayed any of the quality that we associate with CR the magician composer of the earl 1950s whose combo with Lata I rate the greatest of that singer.

On a sidenote, "Bahurani" was the remake of a Tamil film "Pennin perumai" where Guru Dutt, Mala Sinha and Rehman played the roles done by Gemini Ganesan, Savitri and Sivaji Ganesan in the original. Interesting to note that it was Sivaji's villainous turn in the Tamil version that stole the show but there was no Hindi top-star who wanted to take the negative role. It was finally left to Rehman, who had already played negative characters, to take it on.

Regards,
Shriram

Title: Tu Hamko Dekh
Lyrics:Veer Mohammadpuri
MD: Roshan

Kamala ji,

Thanks for up-loading this beautiful song.

An observation:

In this track a piece played from 00:00:27 to 00:00:30 is very similar to the one played in Roshan saheb's other composition from film 'Rangeen Ratein' a Lata-Rafi duet ... Bahut aasaan hai chilman se lagkar muskuraanaa.

BTW if you have any songs from 'Rangeen Ratein' please upload them.

Thanks a lot.

Amod Jee,

Thanks for your appreciation of the above Lata Melody.

Your observation is also quite appreciable. I wonder how could you so minutely observe / recollect the music in both the Roshan compositions.

As requested by you, one Lata& Chorus from Film:RANGEEN RATEN is uploaded here. The song is not in very good condition. But quite manageable.

Shriramji
Thank you sharing your love for CR (no wonder why) and also some very interesting info on the Tamil film version. At that time, I found two heroins very charming, Sadhana (I just loved her watching) and Mala Sinha. Fortunately, both were given some nice Lataji songs (so for me it was two-in- one). Please keep it up and by the way feel free to upload your riches.

Misra Ji,
Thank you for uploading a great rare. I did hear this one for the first time. There are songs you hear for the first time and right then you know whether you like it or not and as I heard it for some more times, it started appearing as if I knew the song, so thanks again for sharing. The quality is also excellent.

Kamla,
Amazing efforts to get this gem to us. Hats off and Thank you for sharing this beautiful song. The recoding from radio reminds me of something. I recall, I sat near radio and listened (almost anything that was running) for days, hoping my song would be played so that I could get (record) it. It was all left to the chance that it would be played anytime during the day/night. What a time. That was hard work, there was enough time, no worries, no destractions and I was so focusd to get just that one song. Funny, as I recall. Do you still record from the radio? I wished I could go back to that.
Sanjay

All the same. thanks a lot for up-loading this song.

Friends,
The Lata voice sounds very very close to Suman. Could someone please confirm whether this is indeed sung by Lata. Earthmusic says its Lata.

One heavenly divine song which I personally rate among top 5 of Lata ji is
"Abhi toh main jawan hoon" from the movie Afsana ( MD : Husnalal Bhagatram).

The song I had on my cassette was a very short song with mukhada and just one stanza (If I am
remembering it correctly).

Can any one please share this melody par excellence ?

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

Yes Parag, the movie version is short song - Mukhda with one stanza, but I am not sure if the 78 rpm version is longer one, but here is the movie version. This was also the signature tune for the famous Hamesha jawan geet programme on radio ceylon (now SLBC).

Abi to main jawan hoon
Film: Afsana (1951)
Lyrics: Qamar Jalalabadi
Music; Husunlal Bhagatram
