QUOTE
The two private albums of 1945 are

Bhoolne Waale O Bhoolne Waale Mohabbat Ka Zamana Yaad Kar
Jis Dil Ne Mohabbat Ki Usko Barbaad Kiya Is Duniya Ne

Ravi, what I know is, those two are K.L.S style ghazals. Those are not names of albums

Since we are talking about KLS, other day on one of the channels they were talking about Guru's long standing desire to sing KLS number, it was arranged (I guess they said HMV) and all the things were in place for him to record those numbers but at the last moment he backed out saying he won’t be able to do justice to KLS numbers

According to KCP,
the song chorus KK sang was in
ChalChalReNaujawan (Bandhan 1940)

Info collected from HF and interview of KK on SDB provides the following info

He sang
Bankaa Sipahiya Ghar Jaaye Ho
[Eighty Days (1946)]

In the same year he also sang
RangeelaRangeelaRe [Shikari 1946]

Then in
MeriJaanMeriJaanSundayKeSunday [Shehnai 1947]

and then finally the full song of Ziddi (1948)
Marne Ki Duan Kyon Mangu...., considered to be the first song of KK.

He sang two Private albums for HMV in 1945.

Nimmi, great idea. RKI thank you for the consolidated information. Had some of it but it is really nice to have it all together. smile.gif

Continuing with songs which, while were not golden era hits, are completely forgotten today...these are songs from film Bandi:

(i) Chup Hoja Ameeron Ki Ye Sone ki Ghadi Hai...03:57....slow lori in melodious voice
(ii) Ghar Ki Raunaq Hai Gharwali...02:55...a duet with Geeta Dutt
(iii) Phoonk Phoonk Kar Chulha (Ek Roz Hamari Bhi Daal Galegi)....04:23...again a solo

MD: Hemant Kumar
Year: 1957

Thank you Eskayes, did not have Chup Ho Ja Ameeran. Love the "phoonk phoonk kar choolha track", especially when he does the take off on Big Brother's blockbuster of its time "Main Ban Ki Chidiya" (Achhut Kanya). "Main bankar sahab git pit English bolun re/Ye chouka bartan chod ke hotel kholun re" ... tongue1.gif

Not a great idea Madhz, but just thought I could share something in a small way here! I had received a lovely gift - Geet Kosh for the period 1951-1960, and an idea dawned upon me to touch this decade and post the data and collect info on it. I started one on Asha Bhonsle forum, but found that not many were interested (he he he mainly coz no uploads tongue1.gif ).

But when members like Eskayes and Gurufan started showing interests on info and anecdotes, I thought I would rather work on such a theme here. RKI, Guru, Kb, you, Marcie are always there to put in your precious thoughts and details. And a big thanks to Eskayes, for his thread was very much on the same topic. Rest is what you see.

While we wait for RKI to give the details on that album, let me move on to the next movie -

#2 Ziddi (1948)
Marne Ki Duayen Kyon Maangoon
MD: Khemchand Prakash
Lyrics:Prof Jazbi

#3 Ziddi (1948)
Ye Kaun Aaya Re..
Co-singer: Lata Mangeshkar
MD: Khemchand Prakash
Lyrics: Prem Dhawan

note: This was also the first movie of Dev Anand and it cemented a new friendship between Guru and Dev Anand.

A little bit more about the director who gave the first major break to KK. Khemchand Prakash was one of the top mds of the 40s. One of his most successful albums was Tansen (with Saigal) in 1943 and another famous album was Mahal(1949), which he composed a year after Ziddi.

According to Wikipedia, Kishore met Lata for the first time while rushing to record a song in Khemchand Prakash's studio. The by now famous incident where Lata recounts about how she thought she was being followed by someone...

And to go back to Mahal briefly, the song Aayega Aanewala... has another famous trivia attached to it vis a vis Lata, namely that she was not credited for the song in the album, instead the name of the character who plays the heroine was credited as the singer( wacko.gif ). Now I wonder if this rule was applied to male singers too and whether Kishore was credited in the initial album as having sung the song... anyone???
