I had "Ehsan Tera Ho" tagged as 1962, as per Earthmusic. But other sources list it for 1961, and the latter may be correct. So the song should be included for 1961. earthmusic is full of errors! it is a 1961 song. the other one is simply beautiful song.. (opera house 1961, chitrgupt, majrooh s.) sona na sitaron ka hain kehna khwabon ke andhere mein na rehna aayenge sajan tere e dil (now she whispers...) jaagte rehna.. Unni Ae Mere Watan ke Logon - Non Film (1962) ????????? The song that moved Pandit Nehru to tears, not on your list ? Anil Good suggestion! A handful of non-film songs will be featured at the end, since their years of release are not known to me. If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Sorry, this thread has been dormant the last few weeks, since I was away and got delayed in my return. Here are my 9 selections from 1961: Allah Tero Naam - HUM DONO - Jaidev 3.32 Chham Chham Naachat Aayi Bahaar - CHHAYA - Salil Chowdhury 4.18 Dhoondo Dhoondo Re Saajna - GUNGA JUMNA - Naushad 3.15 Do Hanson Ka Joda - GUNGA JUMNA - Naushad 3.12 Ghar Aaja Ghir Aayey - CHHOTE NAWAB - R. D. Burman 3:15 Jaarey, Jaarey Oodja Re Panchhi - MAYA - Salil Chowdhury 4:07 Jyoti Kalash Chhalkey - BHABHI KI CHURIYAN - Sudhir Phadke 3:23 O Nirdayi Preetam - STREE - C. Ramachandra 3:07 Woh Bhooli Dastaan - SANJOG - Madan Mohan - 4:46 Some more songs that I Another Lata solo from Opera House_61 (Chitragupt) : "Balma Mane Na" One more Lata solo from Sanjog_61 (Madan Mohan): "Badli Se Nikla Hai Chand" Senapati_61 (Madan Mohan): "Hindolna Jhoolan" Jai Chittor_61(S N Tripathi): "O Pawan Veg se udne wale ghode" Vasant Desai had two releases in 1961, and both had some beautiful Lata solos: Pyar Ki Pyas_61: "Chanda Dhale" Sampoorna Ramayana_61: "Raam...Mere Jeevan Ki" (not technically a solo) "San Sanan Sanan" "Baadlon Barson Nayan Ki" Besides Maya and Chhaya, SC's Mem Didi and Char Diwari were also released in 1961. Char Diwari had the absolutely beautiful lori: "Neend Pari Lori Gaye" Mem Didi_61: "Bachpan Bachpan Pyare Pyare Bachpan" "Beta Wow Wow Wow, mere kaan mat khao " "Raaton Ko Jab Neend Ud Jaye" "Bhula Do Zindagi Ke Gham" "This isn't right, this isn't even wrong." Wolfgang Pauli (1900-1958) "There are no facts, only interpretations." Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) |

Mem Didi_61: "Bachpan Bachpan Pyare Pyare Bachpan" "Beta Wow Wow Wow, mere kaan mat khao " "Raaton Ko Jab Neend Ud Jaye" "Bhula Do Zindagi Ke Gham" While I check out the others (which seem like good suggestions), there's no way I'm gonna include the barking song from "MEM DIDI"! Yo! Give Lata-ji some credit! Shure, she sang it. But among her best???? If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Yo! Give Lata-ji some credit! Shure, she sang it. But among her best???? OK, me got carried away... it does sound like "bow wow" instead of "wow wow" Now for some 1962 songs: Manmauji_62(Madan Mohan): "Chanda Re Bairi Ja" Roshan's Aarti and a film that probably bombed...Zindagi aur Hum_62 had around six songs all of which were Lata solos if I am not mistaken. Have five of them (courtesy HF) in case anyone wants to hear them. "Cheen Liya Beiman Mera Dil" (Reminds me of Saari Saari Raat) "Dheerey Se Gagari Utaar" "Ja re Ja meri Chhod Chunariya" "Matwali Muraliya Bajaye" "Tum Humko Dekh" (P.S. For the serious purpose of documentation ...besides being very melodious ) Son of India_62 (Naushad): Aaj Chhedo Mohabbat Ki Chitragupt Main Chup Rahungi_62: "Tumhi Ho Mata" "Mere Dil Kabhi To Koi Aayega" Shaadi_62: "Aaj Ki Raat Naya Chand Leke " Burma Road_62: Not very popular, but ummm...sexy "Zulphen Uljhi Hain" and two more solos from Dr. Vidya_62 "Khanke Kangna Bindiya Hase" and the teasing, "Jaani tum to dole daga daike" "This isn't right, this isn't even wrong." Wolfgang Pauli (1900-1958) "There are no facts, only interpretations." Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) |

I had "Ehsan Tera Ho" tagged as 1962, as per Earthmusic. But other sources list it for 1961, and the latter may be correct. So the song should be included for 1961. *IMO*, the year is irrelevant because the song should not be featuring in the list at all! It is one of the *very* few pre-1980 songs where our lady's voice is taxed beyond its limits. Let it RIP! Warm regards, Abhay |
