Thanks, Sri.
Both are great numbers I'd missed in my compilation. If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Another thing I noticed after coming here in HF is that Lata Mangeshkar forum has always been neglected. It has never been active the way it has to be.Compare it with MAS.I don't know the reason why?...May be there is not enough die hard fans for her in HF. Even we don't have a website dedicated to her(in my knowledge). While the Lata Mangeshkar forum is not extremely active, it seems to be consistently active. On the one hand we regularly have requests for many of her well-known songs. On the other, we have members on a crusade to seek, find and share rare tracks. And some of us have been uploading less-heard songs on a fairly regular basis. I guess, just about every HFM listener is an admirer of Lata-ji's singular singing prowess and has heard most of her famous songs. Her voice regales us constantly on radio and TV, in films and from music-systems. She is also perhaps the recording artiste whom the media has covered/featured/reported most. There are at least two biographies in English plus others in Marathi and Hindi. Her life and personality, her unique stature in the world of music --- they're common knowledge. Hence the lack of discussion about her in the forum. We take her, her musical greatness, for granted, sort of! She is not just popular, she is revered. The music publishing companies have also been prolific in their output of her recordings. Unfortunately, they recycle the same hackneyed tracks. Whereas, ardent fans discover, over a period of time, beautiful songs of Lata-ji they've never heard before --- songs that perhaps did not get air-time, maybe from insignificant films, yet exquisite tunes crafted by composers, celebrated or forgotten or unknown. It is unfortunate, indeed sad, that many recordings do not even exist anymore. I'll always be grateful to HF for introducing to me two glorious songs of Lata-ji, "Pyar Ki Yeh Talkhian" and "Dar Dar Ki Thokrein Hain". These two songs, though included in my compilation, were not featured in this thread since they were recently uploaded: http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?showtopic=1661&st=135 http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?showtopic=1661&st=180 If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Thanks Unni Ji for the Hoor-e-Arab Song, diye baghban ne ..., what a great song and a rare one too.
Here one song regarded by Lata Ji as her favourite one from her early years (also mentioned in Gaurav's website on Lata Ji). Indeed a great song composed by Master Ghulam Haider, eventhough the quality is so so, conidering its rarity,as it is not found in her HMV/RPG compilations. Courtesy (HF) Film: Padmini (1948) -Lata Mangeshkar - Bedard tere dard ko Music: Ghulam Haider |

Stepping back a little, to 1955, one song I like from the multi-starrer INSANIYAT (music C Ramchandra) is :
Chup chup chup, hone laga kuch, tum bin dhak dhak dhadke..... I have a VCD rip which is not too good - the voice sounds a bit distant and muffled...if anyone has a CDQ version of this very likeable song - please upload !!! Sri "Jis din is duniya se nafrat aur khudgarzi mit jaayegi, us roz yeh insaan naachega, us roz yeh dharti gaayegi" - Rajinder Krishan (Maa baap 1959)
