Another beauty from Pardes :

Lata Mangeshkar- Pardes- Jiya Nahi Lage mora- Music : Ghulam Mohamad

I think this excellent classical based sosng is from, other members may reconfirm from Geetkosh:
Machalti Haseena (1953)-
-Lyrics : Shailendra
Music :Basant Prakash

Mohd.

Shuklas-ji, let me first start by thanking you for all the lovely songs you have
uploaded but most specifically for this beautiful song.
Now, the search for the film for this song continues. According to the Geetkosh:
The lyrics for the song in "Pardes" (1950), music by GM are
"Jiya laage nahi mora dekho dekho ji sajan"
THat does not match this song, and the musical style does not seem like GM
to me. Actually, this seems more Anil Biswas-esque.

But, moving forward,
I could not find a film in my copy of the GK called "Machalti haseena" (not in
any decade).

However, I did find a song with similar lyrics from the film "Badnaam" (1952),
music by Basant Prakash, and sung by Lata. However the lyrics there say:
"Jiya nahi laage ho mora man nahi laage"
AND the song says "Lata aur sakhiyaN".
The song you uploaded has slightly different lyrics and there are no sakhiyaN.

So the search continues.
I will ask around some more.

I agree with Mohd. bhai. I picked up from the last stanza of the song once from Radio Ceylon on to my cassette during the 'Apni Pasand ke Gaane' conducted by the announcer Vijaylakshmi. I couldnot get the name of the film properly----thanks to the typical nature of the lady at the mike to swallow the first word (but she was the only one who would announce the details even after the song is played, so I was lucky) and assumed the name of the film as 'Haseena' (Bulo C Rani !!!) and have been thinking so till date. Since then I never heard the song again. Now our distinguished friends may decide whethert this is from 'Machalti Haseena' or simple 'Haseena'. Even I was wondering whether this could be from 'Pardes' when I first d/l-ed this song. I didn't even remember of hearing any such song from 'Pardes' though I saw the movies nearly 30 years back during my college days.

So this could be from 'Machalti..'

"Haseena" (1955) does not have any songs by Lata in it. Mainly Asha and I think one
song by Sudha Malhotra.
But I did send this question off to a friend of mine and he came back with a definitive
answer. The song is certainly a Hindi song, BUT it is from a Marathi film called "Naayakinicha
sajja", music by Hemant Kumar. There is another Lata solo in this same film, also in
Hindi with lyrics "Aisi tirchhi nazar se na dekho".
