Here's a very rare one from Lata with the music of Chitragupt - from the film Do Shikari (1979). Song was recorded in the late 60s but the film was released a decade later (with a new name). Picturised on a very young Rekha wooing Biswajit.

(chand kyon zard hai) ...O sajna, daraati hai yeh tanhai ki raatein

Specially requested by our own Lata after hearing it on HF radio !!
Enjoy ! gift.gif

Sri

P.S. (added later)
Apparently this song was truncated in the film soundtrack (on VCD) - which accounts for the unusual beginning - starting with the antara (first verse) - chand kyon zard hai. The complete song starting with the mukhda 'sajna daraati hai' has been uploaded by Mohsin in another thread named 'Sajna daraati hai' in the Lata forum. Pl see that too.

On request - a song which was played yesterday on HF radio: a lovely duet of Lata Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar with the enchanting melody of C Ramchandra .......and, appealing lyrics from Sahir (so what's new?) !!

Umr hui tumse mile,
phir bhi jaane kyon,
aise lage jaise,
pehli baar mile hum
Enjoy !! gift.gif

P.S Pl note that the year should be 1963 ...and not 1950 as erroneously mentioned here

Sri, I think Bahurani is from 1963 (not 1950 as the file says).

Absolutely right - SB ! Thanks for pointing out the slip - wonder where that came from ! Probably a transcription error.

A typically charming Chitragupt song - a Lata solo from the film Shaadi 1962, picturised on Saira Banu (her 2nd film) and Manoj Kumar.

The rhythm ..and the way it is played ...is so 'trademarked Chitragupt' !

Aaj ki raat naya chand leke aayi hai,
chandni chaayi hai, jaane kya laayi hai
Enjoy !!! gift.gif
